If you are viewing my characters then I have posted the link where I think there are adults who are able to tell right from wrong easily, and can handle seeing view points of fictional characters that may not align with their own.
In my stories I have characters who are bad and do bad things. Obviously I know these things are wrong and do not support them, but I also know it is fiction and I want to tell stories that aren't always fluffy and wholesome. I also have villains and characters who make bad choices that come in a range of gender, species, sexual orientation, etc.
That being said, here is a list of content warnings for my characters and their stories. These themes may or may not end up actually showing up in character profiles but I wanted to include what I thought might even be a possibility in order to thoroughly cover any bases. Most of these are present in writing only in their bios, although some may be present in art.

Aline

(uh-line)

Aline is a fae doe, living in the Autumn Lands. She is a hand maiden to the royal court, and due to her task's nature, is selectively mute. She keeps to herself most of the time, and doesn't go out of her way to get to know anyone around her, which includes other hand maids and even a few members of the royal court who are friendly to her.She has worked for the royal court for decades, almost as long as she could remember, considering that fae age differently and have much longer lifespans. Aline is still considered a young adult because of this, despite being nearly 70 years old. She is considered naive by others around her, and still has a lot to learn.

Personality

Positive Traits
First and foremost, Aline is very cautious about nearly everything in her life. Though this could be seen as negative, to Aline, being cautious is a positive thing because it will help her excel with her work. She has the foresight to avoid situations that could be risky, or even potentially dangerous. She keeps her body posture and language very closed off, reserving herself from giving anyone the wrong impression. Aline will quickly identify boundaries and rigorously respect them, making sure to avoid stepping over any lines.
Aline is cooperative, almost to a fault. She loves being helpful and will often times go out of her way to anticipate what will be asked of her, just to show how cooperative she is. She takes her responsibilities very seriously, and makes sure that she doesn't leave any loose ends with what is expected of her. Aline is polite and agreeable to those she serves, and even will take on the tasks of the other hand maidens if one asks her to, even if she doesn't necessarily want to. She has unwavering dedication and loyalty to those she serves.Being a hand maiden to the young fae princess, Aline must be nurturing at all times. She speaks to the princess in a calm tone, using kind and encouraging words with her. Aline is incredibly patient, not only with the princess, but everyone who comes across her path. She is self sacrificing, if she has tasks that need to be completed, Aline will often times forgo her own needs in order to get her work done. In the same vein, Aline is obedient to anyone ranking over her, and follows orders immediately, trusting those with authority have everyone's best interests at heart. Aline understands that everyone in society has a role to play, which means that she must do her best to complete her roles as effectively and to the best of her ability as possible. She loves the approval of authority figures, and will sometimes push herself to go above and beyond to get a little bit of extra praise.Negative Traits
Aline is very insecure, and that can easily be seen in the nervous way she interacts with the world around her. She tends to keep to herself unless absolutely no other options are available, and even then she will get through any social interaction as soon as possible, saying no more than is absolutely necessary of her. Aline has low self-esteem, and always expects the worst. Any time she is summoned before the court she stresses over any little thing she could have possibly done to upset them, and every time it has ended up being nothing to worry over. Aline relies heavily on what others think about her, terrified of disappointing anyone. She constantly dwells on the worst case scenarios and is unable to stop herself from worrying about everything, all the time. Often times she will speak in a rush or have stuttered speech, and she has a sensitivity to the tones of others voices which she often times will incorrectly interpret as upset or annoyed with her. She avoids any royal events and balls as much as possible, not wanting to even risk a moment in the spotlight. She feels as though she is doing everything wrong, or at least being judged for everything she does, good or bad.
She also is very subservient, almost to a fault. She is timid about asking for clarification or purpose, which can cause her to follow orders without any question or reason. Aline will never disagree with those above her, not wanting to upset anyone or cause any problems, even if this leads to punishment. Aline adopts the opinions and ideas of those around her, reasoning with herself that things just are different in the royal court and it is the norm. She exhibits blind loyalty, even over the most outrageous of demands made by the young princess she is to see over. Aline is eager to please others and will often shove her needs down to the very bottom of her list of concerns, and even when she does stop to take a short break or eat a meal, she feels guilt that something else could be done.To the minor frustration of those around her, Aline is very timid and tends to isolate herself from anyone else, even those who genuinely want to get to know her. She's very nervous around strangers and always looks to someone else to introduce her to someone new, instead of having to do it herself. Aline has a lot of self doubt about her work, even though no one has ever criticized it, and she will often speak in a quiet, soft voice in order to draw as little attention to herself as possible. Not wanting to upset anyone, Aline never shares her true opinions on any subject matter and will always echo the ones of those around her.

History

Early Life
Aline's tale begins in the heart of the Sylvan Glade, a mystical enclave hidden deep within the ancient woods of The Autumn Lands. Her parents, Aerion and Lirella, were revered caretakers of this sacred grove, entrusted with maintaining the delicate balance of nature and magic that permeated the glade. The birth of their daughter beneath the luminescent glow of the Fae Moon was a momentous event, one that whispered of prophecies and hinted at destinies intertwined with the threads of magic.
Aline, from her earliest days, displayed an innate connection to the mystical energies that enveloped the Sylvan Glade. Her laughter echoed like a melody, causing flowers to bloom in joyous response, and her tears possessed a healing touch that mended the wounds of the woodland creatures. The elders, attuned to the subtle forces that governed their realm, recognized the significance of Aline's magical affinity and decided to entrust her upbringing to Thistledown, the venerable fae elder and caretaker of the arboreal library.Magic Education
Under Thistledown's watchful eye, Aline's childhood unfolded amid the pages of ancient tomes and beneath the whispered secrets of the Sylvan Glade. Thistledown, herself a repository of centuries-old knowledge, recognized the unique potential within Aline and guided her through the intricate art of floral manipulation, the ancient dances of enchantment, and the understanding of the symbiotic relationship between the fae and their enchanted surroundings.
Despite her extraordinary talents, Aline harbored a deep-seated shyness that manifested as a reluctance to showcase her magical prowess. She sought solace in the embrace of the natural world, finding companionship in the rustling leaves and the gentle hum of the glade's mystical energies. This introverted disposition, while endearing to those who knew her well, also became a source of internal conflict for Aline as she navigated her burgeoning magical abilities.Summoned by the Royal Court
As the seasons turned, news arrived at the Sylvan Glade that sent ripples through the fae community. The royal handmaiden of the fae court had fallen gravely ill, and the queen herself, Queen Isolde, had heard tales of Aline's unique gifts. A messenger, adorned in regal attire, emerged from the forest shadows to deliver a summons to the Sylvan Glade. Unfortunately, Aline and her community did not suspect anything of this, and it would go unknown to them that the queen was more interested in curbing Aline's magic and suppressing it, as she was scared Aline might overthrow the court.
Caught between duty and a longing for the familiar embrace of her enchanted home, Aline hesitated. Thistledown, recognizing the weight of the decision before her, offered words of encouragement, urging Aline to embrace the opportunity to serve the greater fae realm with her extraordinary gifts. With a mix of trepidation and determination, Aline bid farewell to the Sylvan Glade and embarked on a journey to the royal court. The royal palace, a shimmering realm of opulent beauty and celestial wonders, unfolded before Aline like a dream. The transition from the serene Sylvan Glade to the bustling royal court was both exhilarating and overwhelming. Her wings, once accustomed to the gentle breezes of the enchanted forest, now fluttered nervously in the currents of courtly intrigue. Her duties as a handmaiden required not only the meticulous care of the royal family and the princess, Marigold, who she reported directly to, but also an adroit navigation of courtly affairs. Aline, initially reserved and hesitant, began to bloom in the court's subservience and found her nurturing role to be second hand.Yet, even in her newfound role, Aline retained the core of her shy and introspective nature. She found solace in the palace gardens, where she cultivated enchanted rose blooms and tended to the sacred flora that flourished under her care. The whispers of the Sylvan Glade remained woven into her being, grounding her in the essence of her origins. In the quiet moments between courtly obligations, Aline returned to her quarters, a haven adorned with fragments of the Sylvan Glade. Pressed flowers from her enchanted homeland covered the walls, and the soft glow of luminescent crystals evoked the tranquility of moonlit glades. Here, she would spend her evenings immersed in the ancient tomes she had carried with her from Thistledown's arboreal library, maintaining the connection to the timeless wisdom of her roots. She kept these secret from everyone, even the other hand maidens. As the years passed, Aline's reputation as the princess's hand maiden of exceptional grace and enchanting abilities continued to grow.Current Day
Aline is still a hand maiden to the royal court and tries her best to keep up her duties to the best of her ability. However, she can't help but to notice something about the court growing darker and sinister almost daily. She still keeps to herself, reassuring herself that if there is something going on its not her place to investigate and whoever has the ability to take care of it will do so.

Relationships

Aerion - Aline's father, who is a caretaker of Aline's old home, the Sylvan Glade. He is highly valued in his community and several of the fae living in Sylvan grove look to Aerion for guidance and strength. He is kind and just, and although he can be stern he is always fair and does not place judgement before truth. Aline and Aerion have a near perfect relationship and have never had any qualms.Lirella - Aline's mother, who is just as strong and brave as Aline's father, Aerion. She is also a caretaker of the Sylvan Glade, and takes on the role of midwife and caretaker to the elders as well. She treasures Aline, and despite missing her dearly every day, knows Aline was destined for something greater than she could ever achieve at the Glade. Aline writes to her mother frequently.Thistledown - One of the oldest fae in Sylvan Glade, who Aline has a special connection with as Thistledown was the one who taught Aline about her magic. Aline misses Thistledown, but hopes that she is making her proud.Reed - Another handmaiden that Aline has befriended in her time with the royal court. The two don't have a strong friendship since Aline tries to keep to herself, but Reed is always friendly and helpful when Aline needs it.Queen Isode - Aline can tell the queen doesn't really like her, and is up to something, so Aline tries to approach with caution and keep at a distance. Their relationship is strictly professional.King Oberon - He hasn't been seen at any royal events in several years now, and like others, Aline is also among those who believe the king has been long dead and being covered up by the Queen and Princess. Aline has to act as though he is ever present, though, which means serving his seat breakfast in the dining hall, and cleaning his chambers at specified times of the day despite his room never having been any more used since the last time she cleaned it.Princess Marigold - Aline's main charge, she sees to nearly everything concerning the princess. Marigold is friendly enough, but still has an air of superiority over Aline and Aline is careful to never overstep any boundaries despite the princess being lax in such matters.Lord Eirian - Lord of the royal court, and Aline suspects he had something to do with the King's disappearance. Aline feels very uncomfortable around Eirian and does her best to avoid him at all costs.

Avia

(a-vee-uh)

Avia is a young adult reindeer, who lives in Akins City with her roommates, Max, Jamie, Phoenix and Adam, who she moved in with shortly after dropping out of college and starting work. Avia's roommates were a bad influence on her, and a majority of her paychecks from working at the diner were going immediately to drugs. None of her friends, except for Caelyn, seemed to have any concern about her obvious addiction, and finally Declan had to step in and fire her from the diner, causing her to effectively have no source of income or way to pay rent. She despised Declan for this, but struck a deal with him where he would pay for rehab as long as she stayed there until she was completely sober and in remission. Having no other options as she faced being kicked out by her roommates, Avia agreed and was gone for nearly three years. Declan promised her a job at the diner when she returned. After her return, Avia refused the job at the diner, still wanting nothing to do with Declan, even though she does credit him to saving her life. She wanted to go back to school and finish her degree in photography, paying for college with help from Caelyn. She now works as a freelance photographer, still living with her previous roommates. Avia is not completely sober, but has a better grip on her life these days than she did years ago.

Personality

Positive Traits
Avia is very confident in herself, which to some is off-putting, but she wears her confidence like a badge of honor. When she's made up her mind, she usually isn't looking for the opinions of others, and feels very self-assured in herself. Her confidence was something that was celebrated when she was in rehab, not punished. She had no problems telling the attendants that she didn't need their help or encouragement, she knew what she was doing and it would work. She was left to her own devices to sober up, which ended up working out in her favor. She's assertive, and will step up when no one else will, coming up with a plan for whatever needs her immediate attention. She has been dubbed 'the mom friend', which she finds annoying, but also finds fitting as well.
In addition, Avia is incredibly honest, not really sparing any feelings along the way. If someone asks for her opinion, they have to be ready to receive it. She is straightforward in communication and lacks a filter to soften any blows. She values the trustworthiness of others, and in turn, wants others to feel the same way about her. She will own up to her own mistakes, taking responsibility and doesn't try to shift the blame. This was an important mantra drilled into her at rehab-- she didn't have anyone but herself to blame for being there, so she continues to carry it with her. Despite being trustworthy, she is still at times uncomfortable with secrets being shared with her.Avia tends to be independent, wanting to work on herself more than those around her. She won't turn down helping others, especially if they want her unadulterated opinion about something, but she usually keeps to herself at home and enjoys working a remote job where she has no direct boss and no one she has to make idle chit-chat with to pass the day. Avia will often times strive for what she wants, and her independence allows her to not settle for less than exactly what she is looking for. Independence gives her the freedom to refrain from settling on anything she isn't completely happy with. Despite the independence, she is very observant when she does socialize with others. She isn't nosey and won't go looking for information about others, but she is the type who will remember obscure facts about someone, said one time in passing.Negative Traits
Avia's confidence and honesty sometimes can come off as abrasive, if asked for the truth she won't hold back with an honest opinion which has gotten her in trouble more than one for not being able to "read the room". Avia doesn't care what others think of her, which is why she often times has a hard time thinking about how someone might feel about her if she says something that they aren't ready to hear. She lacks patience with others when they do happen to get upset with what she's said, not understanding why her opinion was asked for when it wasn't actually wanted. Avia doesn't completely lack awareness of social situations, she just doesn't want to waste time with fluff.
Even though Avia has an abundance of honesty, she is still somewhat cynical and distrusting of others. She still feels betrayed by Declan, who was the reason why she had to go to rehab and get help. She knows his intentions were well-meaning, but Avia to this day still has a hard time taking the actions of others at face value and not containing some sort of ulterior motive. She's a bit pessimistic, expecting most things to have a negative outcome and not go in her favor. She won't typically voice these doubts, but she doesn't allow herself to get her hopes up for anything anymore. Feeling apathy to most things is something Avia has come to accept.Avia is never mean on purpose, and the things she says are never meant to directly hurt anyone, but this doesn't stop her from coming off as grumpy a majority of the time. Her roommates will tease her about it, asking why she's so grumpy all of the time. Avia has luckily managed to deflect most of their jokes, but has found herself still subjected to the jeering when she was in a completely neutral mood, which in turn did make her grumpy and only increase the teasing. Her pessimism is almost certainly the cause of an assumed grumpy demeanor, and she's not often seen smiling or joking in the company of others unless under the influence, which is still not often. Additionally, her independence and reclusive nature can sometimes bring out the assumption that she is unpleasant to be around.

History

Early Life
Avia was born an only child to two, unremarkably average parents. They weren't always emotionally available to her when she was growing up, since they both worked long hours. Avia's father was a professor at the local university in Akins City, and her mother was a registered nurse who traveled all over to make house calls to patients in hospice care. However, she wasn't neglected by any means, except for maybe socially. She never went wanting for anything, always having grand holiday celebrations and birthdays. The three of them would travel whenever her parents could get time off during the summer, and Avia had no real complaints about her family.
Avia had a lot of time to herself, adapting to impendence from a young age. It also caused her to seek attention in any way she could, especially in high school, where she would make elaborate lies about herself to seem more interesting and likable to her peers. She was introduced to drinking at a young age from school friends that were not a great influence on her. She was so desperate to fit in, though, she put herself through a lot of unnecessary risk. Her grades began slipping in her Junior year, and by Senior year, she had all but stopped going to class entirely. This infuriated her father, who had been looking forward to Avia going to school at the university he taught at next year. He told her to shape up or she would be washing dishes and flipping burgers for the rest of her life, which was enough to resonate with her to get her act together and finish high school and barely graduate. Her father had to pull a lot of strings, but she was accepted in Akins City University for the following year.College Years
Only going to the university for one year, Avia did not finish her degree and dropped out. Her parents could not afford both the tuition and for their daughter to live on campus, so Avia spent her short time enrolled in university commuting daily, which she hated for the amount of travel time it took. She often would lie to her parents, telling them she had gotten an phone call that morning saying that class was cancelled as a way to stay home and do nothing instead of going to class. This also made it very hard for her to make friends, since she wasn't really part of the college scene and missed out on a lot of social opportunities that came with living in the dorms. Finally, she did get wind of a party in the dorms that she made sure not to miss. This, unfortunately, would be the start of her downward spiral.
She learned quickly that, even while still underage, alcohol was a lot easier to get her hands on in college than it was in high school. So many more people at these parties were old enough to buy it, where in high school, you always needed to have a connection. She would now spend entire weekends out at parties and found her grades slipping once again. She had many lectures from her father, telling her how embarrassed she made him, after he had worked so hard with the dean and admissions to let his below average daughter go to school there. She didn't care, though, and after a year of doing this, her parents told her she might as well drop out and look for a minimum wage job instead of them continuing to waste their time and money on her.Working at the Diner
After dropping out and feeling guilt about disappointing her parents so badly, Avia wanted to look for work and move out as fast as possible. Only nineteen with no degree and basically no college education, she had a lot of time finding anything that paid over minimum wage. She applied everywhere, though, and one of the only places that got back to her was The Unicorn Diner. Her interview was short and easy, but somewhat awkward. She had never been in the diner before, despite thinking about how she'd like to go sometime every time she passed it on her commute to campus. The interview was with the owner himself, Theodore Declan, who she knew was some sort of big-shot tycoon that owned several restaurants and hotels in the city. It was during this interview that she learned the true nature of the diner, that it was a front for an underground (literally) prostitution ring and most customers were coming to the diner for that. Of course, the diner still ran and operated as advertised, but there was a lot more going on than she had realized. After being told the reality, Avia was not pressured to accept the job, and Declan told her that he trusted her not to spill the secret. He did tell her that pay would be a lot higher than advertised, especially when doing the "bonus" work outside of just waitressing, but did warn her in the same breath that pay might be slow the first few months, as most of the wait staff had regulars who knew who and what they liked. It might take her some time to gain regulars of her own. Despite this, Avia took the job and was shown to the on-site apartments located in the vast and spacious basement of the diner. Much to Avia's surprise, the apartments were nothing short of luxury with a working space and a living space, which Declan told her she could decorate to her liking. She moved in that following weekend, telling her parents she got a job working for Theodore Declan and he was paying for her new housing.
Just as Declan had warned her, her first few months were very slow, her paycheck not being much more than the 40 hours of minimum wage with very little extra being added on. She did end up becoming fast friends with Declan's niece, a unicorn named Caelyn who was just a year or two younger, and the two would drink together on their nights off. Avia began to notice that every two weeks, a calico cat and fox would stop by and speak with Declan in his office for hours at a time. Eventually curiosity got the better of her and Avia asked Caelyn about it, who told her that the cat's name was Miel and she as a business partner of Declan's, but the two didn't like each other very much. The fox was an employee of Meil's, named Emmi, that was brought along essentially as eye candy to quell Declan when Miel asked for something that Declan would deem as outrageous. Avia found herself developing a small crush on Emmi, and would talk to her every chance she got, even if it was just a few words every two weeks when the pair would stop by.After a couple of months of this, Emmi showed up at the diner alone one night, as a customer instead of with Miel for whatever the two would discuss with Declan. She asked for Avia specifically to wait on her, and the two got talking. Emmi waited until the end of Avia's shift and invited her to accompany her to the next stop, someone named Max's house. Avia agreed and, on the way over, Emmi explained that Max was her favorite dealer while staying in Akins City, and the prices in New Cascade City, where she was from, were getting too steep and that meant she would have to come out this way more often. At this point, Avia had never done anything more than drank alcohol, but looking back on her new job, she just assumed this was her life now. When the two of them got to the apartment, Avia met Max and Jamie, a tiger and ermine friend pair living together. Immediately Avia had a bad feeling about Max but didn't feel too uneasy about Jamie. Emmi, however, seemed at ease with both of them, so Avia tried to match the vibe. After talking to Jamie for a bit while Emmi and Max were a bit more hush-hush on their side of the room, Avia was shocked to turn around and see Emmi snorting a line of cocaine while Max watched. Stunned, she looked back at Jamie, who shrugged complicitly, and Emmi offered some to Avia. Not wanting to refuse and ruin whatever she had with Emmi, Avia agreed and followed suit. This would carry on for several more weeks, until Avia got to the point where she would go to Max and Jamie without Emmi being in town. One day, she joked that she should just move in with them instead of having to ride the train all the way over to their apartment from work. Max and Jamie were delighted at the prospect of a third person contributing toward rent, and Avia moved in shortly after, leaving her luxury apartment at the diner behind.Avia spent a lot of her time partying with her new roommates, often times skipping shifts at the diner and ignoring calls and voice messages from Declan. Finally, Caelyn showed up at the apartment after Avia had missed three shifts in a row. The unicorn found her passed out on the couch while Max and Jamie watched television on either side of her. Caelyn warned her that Declan had said if she missed another shift, he was going to fire her. Avia said she didn't care and if she was just here to kill the mood, she might as well leave. Caelyn was hurt by this, but left and reported back to Declan about what she had been told. Declan called his driver immediately and was at the apartment within an hour of Caelyn getting back. It took some persuading to Max that he wasn't a cop, but the tiger finally let him in only for Declan to fire Avia on the spot, in the living room. Avia told him she didn't care, but Max and Jamie, now realizing the hit that their own pay would be taking now that they'd be the only two paying rent again, certainly did care. Declan told Avia that he would pay for rehab if she would go until she was clean, and when she returned, she could have her job at the diner back. At first, she refused, but Max and Jamie told her that if she wasn't paying, she couldn't live with them. Since she had been fired, she also lost access to her diner apartment. Avia didn't really see any alternative, so she agreed with Declan and went to rehab.Rehab
Avia was at a rehab facility for nearly 3 years, in which she had very little contact with the outside world. She didn't get to see anyone before leaving, except for Max, Jamie and Declan. She hoped Declan would tell her friends at the diner, and that Max and Jamie would let Emmi know next time she stopped by the apartment. She missed her friends but also felt shame and embarrassment, and hoped by the time she left the facility, her friends would have forgotten about her completely and the guilt would be gone.
It was at this point in her life that Avia started being much more honest with herself. She would tell herself daily that it was her fault only that she was in this situation, so she might as well own up to it and make sure she got clean, and this all wasn't a waste of her time. She did very little socializing with other residents, telling herself that she didn't want to associate with other people who were as low as she was. She often times would even refuse the assistance or guidance of caretakers at the facility, as she wanted to prove to everyone she was self-sufficient enough to do things on her own. Finally, after just under 3 years of staying at the facility, Avia decided it was time to go home. The first person she tried to get in touch with was Emmi, who she did not hear back from. She felt too much shame to call her parents, who she had not spoken to since she had moved to the diner. She wasn't sure if they knew she was in rehab, but she didn't want them to know if they didn't already. She thought about calling Declan, but the immediate anger she felt when she thought about him made her change her mind. Finally, the last person she could think to get into contact with was Max. Avia figured she would need to get in touch with him again eventually anyway, all of her belongings were still at his apartment. Fortunately for Avia, Max came out one Saturday to pick her up.After Rehab/Resuming College
Avia went back to living with Max and Jamie, despite knowing it was probably not the best place for her. They had left her bedroom exactly the way she had kept it before going to rehab, which surprised her, as if they expected her to come back one day. They also started renting out the other two spare bedrooms, to a dingo named Adam and a possum named Phoenix. She found out Adam worked at the diner, which reminded her that Declan had said she could have her job back once she was clean and out of rehab. She decided against it, however, and began looking for other work that she would be hired into immediately so she could start paying rent.
Adam came home one day and let Avia know that Caelyn at the diner was asking about her, since she had overheard Adam telling Declan that Avia was back from rehab. Avia called Caelyn that night, and the two talked for hours, with Caelyn begging Avia to come back and work at the diner. Avia refused, saying she didn't want to see Declan. Caelyn asked her about what she would do now for work, and Avia told her minimum wage. Caelyn asked if she would ever go back to college, and Avia told her no, she couldn't afford it. Caelyn came over the next day to help her sign up for classes for whatever Avia wanted to pursue. Caelyn said as long as Avia went to school and stayed sober, she would pay for everything. Avia signed up for a photography degree and worked retail.Current Life
Avia still lives with her roommates, and has fallen off the sobriety wagon, unfortunately. She is still in school, though, and is able to afford paying for her classes by doing freelance photography. She sees Caelyn occasionally, but don't speak much due to Avia's substance use resuming. She still has not been able to get in touch with Emmi since getting out of rehab.

Relationships

Friends
Caelyn One of Avia's first friends after starting at the diner. The two got along well, but Caelyn often worried about Avia's well-being. They reunited after Avia got out of rehab, but their friendship isn't the same as it was. Caelyn had helped her get back on her feet by helping pay for college, so long as Avia stayed sober. To Caelyn's disappointment, Avia did not hold up her end of the bargain and now the two only talk sparingly.
Emmi- Another friend of Avia's, who introduced her to harder drugs and was inseparable from. However, after rehab, Avia has not heard from Emmi despite trying to reach out several times.
Max- One of Avia's original roommates that she knew before going to rehab. Avia considers him a friend but does get annoyed by his personality more often than not. She typically avoids Max when they are home alone together but remains friendly with him when social situations are unavoidable.
Jamie- Avia's relationship with Jamie is much better than it is with Max, but she still would use the term 'friend' loosely to describe what she has with Jamie. Jamie is significantly easier to talk to than Max is, and they just get along with each other better.
Feather- First met through Caelyn one time at a diner visit, and then was surprised to see her at the apartment one day to visit with Max. She enjoys talking to the other doe, but doesn't know if Feather sees her as a friend in return. Every time they talk or see each other at a party, Feather is friendly with Avia.
Acquaintances
Phoenix- A new roommate that she met after rehab, Avia doesn't like Phoenix much at all. To Avia, Phoenix feels very entitled and naive about how the world works. The two don't speak very often at all, and Avia prefers to keep it that way.
Adam- Another new roommate that was in the apartment when Avia got back from rehab. Avia is not a fan of Adam, who she thinks is a bit sleezy and there's something off about him.
Jessa- Avia met her one time while at a party with Emmi. She remembers not really liking Jessa but has literally not seen her since the party years ago.
Other
Declan- Avia's former boss, who she has wanted nothing to do with since returning for rehab. Even though he helped her turn her life around, Avia still resents the way he went about it. Prior to rehab, the two were on neutral terms with each other

Bijou

(bee-zhoo)

Bijou is a witch who lives in The Slumbering Wood. Typically she works alone, preferring to keep a solitary life and will only interact with others when she goes into the city to purchase a month's worth of groceries and potion making supplies. When Bijou was first training as a witch, she caused a horrible accident which led to self-exile from the village she was living in. Bijou felt a lot of guilt because of her mistake, and it caused her to devote her life to her practice and study. She has a grand library that takes up most of her cozy cottage style home, and she considers her books her most prized possessions.

Personality

Positive Traits
Bijou is very focused in her work, and is a doer instead of a dreamer. She always sets aside time for her studies, and wants to learn as much as she can within a study session, making sure no time is wasted. She is able to shut out all distractions, which can sometimes cause her to miss timers she's set or notice other passages of time, like the sun going down. Sometimes she will sit down to study and lose track of time long enough that she will miss a meal. She has a strong work ethic when it comes to her potion making studies, not cutting an corners or taking shortcuts when it comes to making a potion perfectly correct.
She is also very private about her life, and doesn't tell anyone anything personal. When she goes into the city to buy supplies, she never answers questions about what she does with them or will downplay what she is doing so that she will seem less interesting in order to keep others from asking questions in the first place. She avoids other witches, despite them reaching out to collaborate or simply meet to share information with each other. Bijou values privacy, though, and believes it makes her a more focused witch. With her solitude, she has developed a strong sense of independence. This allows her to be self-sufficient, only having to worry about herself and not the needs or wants of others, and therefore can allow herself emotional strength by putting her needs highest on her list of priorities. Bijou does enjoy her solitude, though, and never finds herself lonely.Negative Traits
Bijou tends to be a bit obsessive with her studies, and gets hung up on the reason why she is so dedicated to perfecting the art of potion making. Her past mistakes can take hold of her thoughts and not let go for days at a time, which almost puts in her in a sort of mania. She has built her life around her mistakes and everything she does, in some way or another, is to right her wrongs and finally lay the guilt to rest. There are times she will get so caught up in her work that she will go long periods of time without eating or sleeping, simply because she was not able to think about it.
Her obsessive thoughts cause her to be a bit scatterbrained about anything that isn't potion making, as mentioned she forgets to eat or sleep sometimes, but it can go even deeper where she will forget to bathe or clean up around her home. She misplaces simple items quite often, especially if they aren't books or potion ingredients. Bijou will rarely get everything she needs at the store when she goes to the city for her once-a-month trip, even if she has written down a list of everything she needs.Because of Bijou's avoidance of others, she doesn't really have anyone willing to put in the work to get to know her, either. She is completely withdrawn from society, and when she does come into contact with others, she shuts herself down so there is no opportunity for the other person to get to know her. She's never been in a relationship, and even from a young age she cannot recall ever having anyone she would call a friend. Bijou is so hyper-focused on her work, however, that she does not want any friends. She worries that friends or even a relationship would just put them at risk of her mistakes, yet again.

History

Early Life
Bijou was born in a small village outside of The Slumbering Woods that was home to both mortals and a very small coven of witches. She was born under the new moon, which predisposed her magic to heavily focus on potion making, and from a young age she took the art of making perfect potions seriously. Her parents, a witch and a mortal, were very pleased with how easily she picked up concepts and applied them to her practice. The elder witch of the coven took notice of Bijou's talent and promised her and her parents that there would be stories written about Bijou's future successes. This only encouraged Bijou more, and instead of spending time getting to know the other children in the village, Bijou spent almost all of her free time studying and reading stories about witches that had come before her.
There are many types of potion making with different degrees and categories, but the one that interested Bijou the most was medicine and healing, hoping that she could mix her magic with the mortal world and one day move to Akins City to become a doctor, which would immortalize her in both the witch and mortal worlds. She was already revered by the villagers for her selflessness and unwavering dedication to healing their aliments. On Bijou's tenth birthday, she received an ancient grimoire named Eldermist, and with it and the careful instruction of the witch elder, Bijou all but perfected her healing potions and potent elixirs. The Plague
When Bijou was in her late teenage years, a deadly plague swept through the village, claiming the lives of several mortal villagers. Desperate to save her people, Bijou delved deep into her magical repertoire, and with the permission of the coven elder, who agreed Bijou was best fit for the job, she began to concoct a powerful healing potion that would cure the ailing spread of the mysterious disease ripping through the village.
Driven by a sense of urgency, Bijou gathered rare and potent ingredients from the mystical Slumbering Wood. The moonlit night became her companion as she toiled over her cauldron, infusing the potion with the essence of healing herbs, enchanted roots, and the magic of the ancient forest. Unbeknownst to Bijou, the potion's efficacy relied heavily on the precise proportions of each ingredient. In her haste and desperation, she miscalculated a crucial component, inadvertently turning the curative elixir into a deadly poison. The potion, once intended to bring relief, became a lethal concoction that, when consumed, unleashed a cascade of devastating effects on the unsuspecting villagers. As Bijou distributed the potion, believing it to be the savior of the village, the catastrophic consequences unfolded before her eyes. Villagers who sought solace in her healing touch fell victim to the poisoned elixir. Panic and grief gripped the village as the very remedy meant to save them became the cause of mass suffering. Heartbroken and devastated by the unintended tragedy, Bijou's reputation as a healer was tarnished, and the once-grateful villagers turned on her. Shunned by her community, she withdrew into self-imposed isolation, haunted by the faces of those she unintentionally harmed.Current Day
Driven by guilt and a determination to right her wrongs, Bijou embarked on a solitary journey of redemption. She sought out ancient mystical beings, wise sages, and renowned alchemists to learn the secrets of potion-making and the delicate balance required to wield magical remedies responsibly. Bijou's path toward redemption is fraught with challenges as she grapples with the consequences of her actions. Her journey becomes a quest for forgiveness, self-discovery, and the mastery of her magical gifts, all in the hope of one day returning to her village to heal the fractured trust and shattered spirits of her once-beloved community.
She now lives in The Slumbering Wood, her library of books keeping her company. She rarely leaves her home except for a once-a-month trip to Akins City to pick up potion making supplies and groceries.

Relationships

Parents - Bijou's parents are the only ones who Bijou will speak with. They have written numerous letters telling her the village has forgiven her and want her to come back, but Bijou does not believe this is true. Lately, she has not gotten any letters from her parents.

Caelyn

(kay-lin)

Caelyn is a low level magic using unicorn that lives in Akins City, working at the Unicorn Diner. She comes from a family of wealth, having never gone wanting for anything in her life. However, her relationship with her family is dysfunctional at best, and her relationship with her uncle, Declan, is complicated, to say the least.Despite her airy demeanor, Caelyn has her moments of wisdom, and is incredibly loyal to her friends, who she will often financially help if they need something, or assist in any way she can. She can be a bit laid back and lazy, and guarded when it comes to strangers, but overall Caelyn has a good heart even if her vanity overshadows it sometimes.

Personality

Positive Traits
At a very young age, Caelyn was betrayed by someone close to her which has, if anything, caused her to become extremely loyal to those she cares about. The pain she felt in the betrayal was something she never wanted anyone else to ever experience, and she does her best to be someone her friends can rely on. She won't tolerate negative speech about her friends, and will often verbally stand up for them if they aren't present. She will sacrifice a paycheck or two if it will help her friends out who have less than she does, and she will seek out other ways to help her friends if financial issues aren't the problem.
Caelyn also can tend to be bold at times, and very assertive. She is not afraid to speak on her opinion even if no one else agrees with her in the moment, and she is able to make a decision in the heat of the moment without any hesitation. Caelyn is very confident and will go through great lengths to get exactly what she wants, when she wants it and doesn't care who she has to win over to get it. She is open in her communication, there is no beating around the bush or softening her words to make them easier to hear. She is overall resourceful, though first impressions of her might lead one to believe she is dim witted or not very bright. Caelyn has an uncanny ability to stay calm in even the most stressful and difficult situations, and is usually pretty proactive to keep herself out of said situations. She can assess a situation quickly, Caelyn is good at remembering little details about even seemingly unimportant things, which helps her with these quick decision making skills.Negative Traits
Caelyn does have an issue of being a little to controlling at times. She strives for perfection, even if it is not always possible to achieve. She tends to micromanage, especially around the diner, which causes dislike from her coworkers since she isn't a manager or even in any position of leadership. She avoids doing anything where she will have to listen to someone else, working at the diner and having work expectations is about the most she will do. Seeing others succeed can cause a bit of jealousy, even if they are her friends and she knows she should be happy for them.
Caelyn is a bit irresponsible, especially with her self-care and work. She will rush through tasks at work to get them done, especially if they are preventing her from clocking out for the night. She needs constant stimulation to keep her interest, and will quickly get bored of a routine. She gives in to her own gratification often, not denying herself anything if she really wants it. This can cause her to run out of money quickly and she will have to resort to borrowing money from her uncle, Declan. She can get herself into reckless situations, sometimes even dangerous depending on the circumstances. She finds the fastest way out of doing something, or if she can, will try and rope someone else into doing a task she doesn't want to do.Growing up with a lot of money has taken a toll on Caelyn, making her somewhat vain. She has a hard time not comparing herself to others, especially when it comes to her weight. She only wants the most expensive clothing and accessories and won't buy anything secondhand. She loves following the latest fashion trends and keeping up with them, even if they only last a couple of weeks. She loves to keep the conversation centered around herself, though she will take genuine interest in the lives of her friends. Caelyn is constantly worried about the approval of others and what they think of her, which is why she tries to one-up them by making sure they have nothing negative to bring up when it comes to her life or image.

History

Early Life
Caelyn was born to a family of generational wealth and status. She lived in a large house on several acres of land with her parents, Sophie, a low level generic magic user unicorn, and her husband, Alexander, a Percheron horse. The wealth came from Alexander's side of the family, specifically his father and Caelyn's grandfather, Victor Declan, founder of Declan Industries. Victor, Alexander, and Theodore, Caelyn's uncle, built wealth upon years of a combination of strategic business ventures, wise investments and a commitment to philanthropy. Victor wanted to eventually expand into technology, but passed away due to heart disease before he was able to make that happen. Caelyn was never particularly close to her grandfather, and since she was so young when he passed away, she was largely unaffected.
Alexander and Theodore tried to continue business ventures together, but the brothers would often times clash with their different ideas. During this time, Theodore would spend several hours a day at his brother's house. Sophie was fighting chronic fatigue at this time and would stay in her room most of the day, and because Alexander was working, Caelyn was left alone most of the day. Her father would give in to every whim she wanted just to keep her from disturbing him and Theodore. This lead to many tantrums from Caelyn, throwing a fit until she got exactly what she wanted, when she wanted.Over the summer, until she was eight, Caelyn's family would often spend weeks at a time at a small town in the Lonely Peak region enjoying being in nature. Here was where Caelyn met a local girl, Feather, just a couple years younger, and would play all summer together. At the time Caelyn had no idea that they would again meet in the future and become best friends. When Caelyn was nine years old, her parents went on a two week trip to visit Sophie's mother, who was ill. While there were house maids and other help at Caelyn's home, her parents asked Theodore to stop by and check on Caelyn a couple of times while they were gone. He did so every day, bringing Caelyn more and more expensive gifts every visit. This caused Caelyn to, understandably, favor her uncle. She would look forward to his daily visits, and when her parents called to tell her that they would need to stay longer because Sophie's mother had passed away and they needed to now plan a funeral, she was elated to learn that her uncle would be staying full time at their home until her parents got back.Caelyn's excitement to have her uncle stay over was short lived, however. He would invite her to sleep in his bed with him at night, and Caelyn thought nothing of it. After a few nights of this, it lead to inappropriate touching, and Caelyn, still nine years old, could identify that this was wrong even though she couldn't explain it. After a few nights of this, Caelyn's parents called to let her know they were coming home in the next few days. She isolated herself in her room almost entirely until they returned home.Teenage Years
While Caelyn never told anyone what happened, her parents definitely knew something was wrong. Caelyn had always had a bit of an attitude and difficult to get through to at her private school, but now she was being outright disruptive and troublesome. She met weekly with the school therapist, trying to get through to her, but Caelyn wouldn't budge on what was bothering her. She was also developing disordered binge eating, which was difficult for her parents to handle. Groceries would be brought into the home and Sophie would find Caelyn sitting on the floor of the pantry at early hours of the morning, eating everything she could get her hands on. Sophie felt she had no other choice than to lock the refrigerator and pantry, and was dismayed to hear her daughter had been stealing extra meals at school as well.
At sixteen, Caelyn was now meeting with a therapist outside of school once a week as well, but refused to tell anyone anything. At this point, she had all but forgotten why she was acting like this. She hadn't seen her uncle in several years now, and she rarely even thought about him. Her father was no longer part of Declan Industries, so there wasn't a point for her uncle to be at their house as often as he used to be. He declined holiday invitations and never came around for any birthdays.Caelyn also found herself going to parties on the weekends thrown by classmates, sometimes being gone from Friday morning to Sunday night. Sophie's conditioned worsened and she was mostly bed ridden, not knowing Caelyn wasn't home, and Alexander was too busy with his own business ventures to noticed Caelyn missing. Caelyn would drink underage often, and found herself becoming hypersexual, all of it as a result of trauma she hadn't realized was still affecting her. Her grades were abysmal, and she had no hope of going to college. School councilors did all they could for her in her final year of high school, trying to get her teacher's to give her simple extra credit assignments so she could at least graduate. None of her teachers wanted her around another year, so they all passed her as low as possible, so she could graduate and they would be rid of her.Moving to Akins City
Right after graduation, Sophie passed away and it was almost the last straw in order for Caelyn to have a complete mental break. She had nothing going for her, and Alexander was on his way to losing their home and all of their money due to poor financial decisions with the business he was trying to start up. Surprisingly, to both Caelyn and her father, Theodore showed up one day to help Alexander with funeral arrangements for Sophie and would cover the cost of it, after seeing how badly his brother was struggling.
Theodore stayed with them for a few days, but Caelyn found herself out of the house that entire time, staying with the few friends she had who were all preparing to go to college themselves. Caelyn realized that once they all left, she would truly have nothing left for her and needed to start seriously thinking about the future. Caelyn returned home the day of the funeral, and after the funeral, Alexander and Theodore sat her down in the kitchen, where Alexander explained to her how bad their financial situation really was, and that they were most likely going to need to sell the house to avoid bankruptcy.Caelyn felt numb, hearing the news of this, but showed no sort of emotion. Alexander and Theodore must have been expecting a more explosive reaction, because they both appeared surprised to see her so calm. It was then that Theodore told her about a diner he owned, and he would be willing to offer her a job there. She declined, hoping that she would never have to work in her life, but Alexander begged her to take the job. Theodore explained that she would get to start over in Akins City, and the job would come with housing. He even told her he would give her a spending allowance each month for a year. Remembering that all of her friends were going to college anyway and Caelyn had no future where she was, she reluctantly agreed and was on the train to Akins City the next morning.Current Day
Caelyn has worked at the diner for a little over two years now, and while she doesn't enjoy working, she does enjoy the city life and all of the friendships she has made along with it. Her relationship with her uncle is still very complicated, but most days she overlooks any issues because he is still giving her a monthly allowance, even after the time frame he told her he would hold up the deal. Caelyn is also learning to tap into her magic she inherited from her mother, but it is very low level and thus not worth putting too much effort into.
Recently, Caelyn remembered her friend, Feather, from her childhood. Declan remembered her as well, from the times he would go with the family on vacation. He suggested Caelyn write to Feather and let her know she could have a job here if she wanted it, to help her get out of the small mining town. The suggestion was lighthearted but to both of their surprise, Feather replied and was working at the diner less than two months later.

Relationships

Friends
Feather Caelyn's best friend, the two get along very well and their personalities work well with each other, although it seems as if they share one entire brain cell between the two of them. Caelyn always has risky ideas and Feather is always down to go along with it but gives a tad more responsibility to the situation than Caelyn is willing to give.
Eleanor- While Caelyn still will consider Ella to be her friend, she does tend to find the other equine a but boring. She has tried her best to get Ella to loosen up, but its becoming more and more obvious to Caelyn that she just doesn't have it in her. Instead, she uses Eleanor as a source of wisdom for any issues she might be having.
Avia Caelyn considered her to be her best friend, before Avia had gone to rehab and Caelyn didn't have any communication with her for some time. She was excited to see the deer out of rehab, but a little disappointed when she refused to work at the diner again. Caelyn had watched Avia work toward destroying her life and was disappointed to see that after rehab, she was starting to sink back into her old ways. The two don't talk much.
Acquaintances
Margo- Margo is kind of a friend of a friend, since Caelyn met her through Feather. Margo is funny, fit, cool and sporty, which is enough to make Caelyn completely jealous of her. As a result, she is a bit rude to Margo at times, who in good graces just shrugs off Caelyn's attitude. Caelyn would never admit this to anyone, though.
Other
Declan- Caelyn's relationship with him is decent, she does appreciate the help he's given her in her later years, although she still isn't very comfortable being around him.

Eleanor is a banished angel, who came to Ohaes after being caught doing illegal acts with a demon, according to the law of her home realm of Teaphis. She was a guardian angel in training while on Teaphis, but never was able to finish that training. Eleanor is riddle with anxiety and low self esteem, always second guessing herself and her abilities. She knows others take pity on her, seeing her as a fragile little mare who cannot fend for herself, but Ella finds herself not doing much to prove these assumptions wrong. Ella works at the Unicorn Diner now, and despite her introverted personality, she finds herself getting a lot of attention at work, good and bad.

Personality

Positive Traits
Despite Eleanor's extreme introverted personality, one of her stronger points is being incredibly discreet. Her lips are sealed when it comes to secrets and personal information, and when pressed for something that she knows she shouldn't say, she has a way of being careful and tactful with the words she chooses. She only tells others what needs to be said, skipping any fluff and getting right to the point when it comes to important information. Sometimes this comes off as being blunt, but most of the time others appreciate how quickly she can share meaningful information and filter out all of the other, not as important, details. Ella stays in control of her own personal emotions, careful to not let her own feelings sway the thoughts and opinions of others. She is able to be observant and watchful without being obvious about it, and she can play aloof very well.
Eleanor always wants to be honest in her interactions, avoiding any lies as much as possible, even ones that would spare the feelings of someone else. She has a firm belief of what is right and what is wrong, and her personal code of ethics won't allow her to engage in anything that she deems wrong. This can be a bit of a flaw sometimes and has earned the ire of those around her, but she believes in what she is doing at all times, otherwise she wouldn't be doing it. Ella always owns up to her mistakes, never trying to put the blame on anyone else. She wants others to admit when they've made a mistake that would affect her, so she makes sure she would always do the same in return.Above all, Eleanor's compassion might be her strongest suit. It seems like she never gets mad at anyone and is extremely merciful when perhaps she shouldn't be. She gives forgiveness every time, no matter how many times someone has wronged her. Ella has a knack for putting herself in someone else's shoes, so to speak, and can usually see what was going through someone else's mind when they did what they did. This can cause great frustration to others, because despite Eleanor adhering to her strict black and white moral compass, it seems like she has compassion for everyone no matter what they have done. Despite this, though, Ella has extraordinary patience, willing to be wronged, duped and tricked over and over and meets it with compassion each and every time.Negative Traits
As she is extremely timid, Eleanor will often avoid change as best as she can. Even things like changes to the menu at work can send her spiraling, because now she has to learn a new script to say to patrons of the diner and will practice over and over in front of the mirror to make her speech sound natural. In her free time, she will typically avoid others, her timidness getting the better of her and convincing her that others don't want her around. Crowds can scare her at times, she gets overwhelmed easily and hates being in the spotlight for anything, good or bad. She becomes flustered easily, and becomes tongue tied when talking, trying to get her words out too fast and it becomes a jumbled mess. Ella does not do well under pressure and will clam up when something major is asked of her, the self doubt that she cannot do it settling in.
Ella can be a bit cowardly at times too, running at the first sign of danger. She would rather avoid situations than have to confront anyone if possible, but luckily her honesty aids her in any confrontation that does have to happen. Eleanor doesn't take risks, and rarely leaves her comfort zone. The fear of failure is too crippling, and the fear of letting someone down is even worse. She gets very hung-up on the 'what ifs', always imagining the worst case scenario. On top of this, she is also incredibly weak willed, giving in to what others want without much thought. She is definitely a follower rather than a leader, despite her opinions. It almost seems like her moral compass she likes to follow so much goes right out the window when someone demands something of her. Her fear of upsetting others or being in trouble overrides that morality and she is often left asking why she did something when it was asked of her, knowing that on her own she would never have done it. She is swayed a bit easily, especially if what is asked of her is spun in a way that makes it sound like she would be doing the asker a great favor. Unable to let anyone down, Eleanor has done things she is not proud of.

Feather

(feh-thur)

Feather grew up in a small mining town called Marren's Eve in the Lonely Peak region, where there were not many opportunities for her. She always dreamed of visiting Akins City, and even moving there one day. Her parents always did their best to provide for her, but unfortunately with the poor wages in the community, they only just got by. However, just after graduation, she was given the opportunity to make her dreams come true. She is very kind and motivated by friendships and other relationships but is extremely scared that she won't be accepted since she is such an outsider. She doesn't want to make anyone upset with her, which in turn makes it hard for her to refuse others or say no to whatever they want. She knows this just makes her a pushover but for the time being she's okay with it.

Personality

Positive Traits
She has a zest for life and wants to see it all with those she loves, despite most of them already being well traveled across the small planet. She is constantly reminding her friends about what they have, and not to take things for granted. In turn, Feather is not really materialistic, only holding onto things she absolutely needs to have. She is happy enjoying the simple things in life, and spending time with those she cares about.
Feather also is very empathetic, almost to a fault. She has a hard time not putting herself in someone else's situation, which sometimes will take a deep emotional toll on herself. She's been told over and over not to dwell on other's situations so much it brings her to the point of distress, but Feather cannot help it sometimes. She is very honest and trustworthy, hating to imagine what someone might feel if she every betrayed their emotions. Unfortunately she puts her trust in a lot of others in return, which often times leads to her getting played by others who lied in order to get her to do something for them or help them with something.Overall, Feather is extremely friendly, almost oblivious with her eagerness to connect to others. She so badly wants to fit in with those who have lived in Akins City longer than she has or even their entire lives, and she doesn't want to seem like an outsider. Sadly for her, those she meets usually can tell immediately she isn't from the city. This can lead to internal battles, not understanding what she has done wrong to not immediately have others like her as much as she likes in them in return. She can be a bit much sometimes, taking all of the advice she knows to make friends and amplifying it to levels that might make others uncomfortable, like asking very personal questions that she doesn't realize might be inappropriate for the first time meeting someone.Negative Traits
Possibly Feather's biggest flaw, she is extremely forgetful. It seems like she can remember any small details about someone they mention one time in passing, but she cannot remember any appointments and will even forget things day-of that she has been looking forward to for months away. She is disorganized and has tried planners, putting alarms on her phone, and any other trick that has been given to her (usually by others annoyed that she forgot something important to them) but none of them work long-term. There's even been a few times at work where her manager will come banging on the apartment door to tell Feather that her shift started ten minutes ago.
Feather also finds herself zoning out when others are talking, thinking about million things at once. While she is extremely friendly, she sometimes has a hard time remembering her friends even exist if they aren't the ones initiating either conversation or a meet-up. Feather loves her friends dearly and would never do anything to upset anyone on purpose, but she just has so much on her mind that she will forget to reach out. She is one of the most requested waitresses as the diner, which means most of her schedule is booked from working. She is usually still thinking about work and sometimes these thoughts will take up any ability to listen to others or absorb new information.Feather's fear of rejection is almost crippling at this point-- she knows that she is an outsider but so badly wants to fit in and be thought of without others thinking that she might not fit in. She thinks so highly of her friends and those she sees often, like co-workers, that she becomes a bit insecure that she brings nothing of value to their lives. She doesn't understand most jokes, and she cannot relate to uniquely Akins City experiences. Feather just wants to be liked, to have friends like she sees in movies. She has friends who accept her and she knows love her, but sometimes it doesn't feel like enough.

History

Early Life
Feather was born to her father, Fezsesh and mother, Zahae on the night of a terrible mining tragedy. The mine that Fezsesh normally worked in had collapsed, and the only reason he wasn't trapped down there with his fellow miners was because of Feather's birth. He calls her his good luck charm and believes he saved her life, but he felt a lot of survivor's guilt, especially since none of the miners in the accident were found alive.
It took Fezsesh almost a year to find steady work again in another mine, up until then he worked various odd jobs around the town of Marren's Eve which rarely paid actual money and was mostly work done in exchange for direct trade of goods like dried foods and old fabric Zahae could use to make clothing for Feather. When the mine was finally ready to open back up, Fezsesh was ready to work again, despite some push back from Zahae who was fearful of another collapse. Fezsesh told her that there were new safety criteria implemented, which was true. To this day, Fezsesh still works in the mine and has not had any incidents. As soon as Feather was old enough, she started going to school in the town's school house. All school age students went to class there, and were given age and grade level appropriate school work with help from the town's one teacher. Feather did decent in school but was often forgetful when it came to turning in homework.Late Childhood and Teenage Years
At some point that Feather cannot remember to pin-point, Lonely Peak became very popular with tourists. Several smaller communities, including Marren's Eve, were visited by thousands of tourists each summer. At first, this was distressing and bothersome to the community, but when they saw how much money these tourists brought in to the small town, their opinions of the outsiders quickly changed. Makeshift museums were constructed to draw in visitors, and many townsfolk would sell "authentic Lonely Peak cuisine" out of their homes which caught the eye of many visitors who were willing to pay large amounts of money.
During this time, Feather met a young unicorn just a year or so older than she was, named Caelyn. Caelyn came from the most wealthy family that Feather had ever seen, but genuinely enjoyed the unicorn's company despite her family's riches. Caelyn and her family would stay for a month or so at a time and came every summer until one year Caelyn wrote a letter to Feather to explain she wouldn't be coming that year. Feather eagerly waited for her return the year after, but Caelyn never returned and never sent another letter explaining she wouldn't be coming.A lot of these tourists brought pictures of their lives on the other coast, showing the Marren's Eve towns folk. Feather was instantly awed by a place called Akins City, with buildings bigger than she had ever seen in her life, or even could imagine existed. That night, after learning about Akins City for the first time, she begged her parents to take her to see the city in person. Her parents had to decline her wishes and felt awful about it. Feather took the let down well, though, and for several years after, she fixated on the city and drew from memory pictures of Akins City that tourists had shown her. There were not a lot of other kids in the town, and there was only one other boy who was Feather's age. Everyone in the town expected them to be dating, but Feather was always too disinterested to date. She told everyone that when she got to Akins City, she could find love there. Finally, Feather turned 18 and finished her schooling, and she was eager to find a job so she could start saving up money to move to Akins City. Her parents had to gently break the news to her that it would take years to save up enough money to move there, since she would need at least a year's worth of extra money to survive in the city. Feather was a little hurt by how un-supportive she thought her parents were being, and they suggested that she save up enough the money to visit Akins City first to see if she even liked it. Feather agreed, and found a job at a outdoor sporting goods store in town. After working at the store almost a year, Feather had a fair bit of money saved up. However, one day she arrived home from work, and her dad nonchalantly told her there was a letter waiting for her. Feather was confused as to who would be writing to her since everyone she knew lived in Marren's Eve. To her surprise, it was her old friend, Caelyn, the unicorn who would visit during the summer. She hadn't heard from Caelyn in almost ten years, and the unicorn wanted to catch up. Caelyn told her how she now lived in Akins City and worked for her uncle at his diner. Excited, Feather wrote back telling Caelyn how happy she was to hear from her again, and how excited for her she was that Caelyn was now living in Akins City. It did sting a bit, that Caelyn got this opportunity instead of her, but she was genuinely excited for her.The two shared letters for about three months, and right after Feather's nineteenth birthday, Caelyn wrote her a letter saying that her uncle, Theodore Declan, that Feather had met on one of Caelyn's visits, wanted to speak with her on the phone. Feather's family did not have a phone, but there was one at the store she worked at. Feather's parents were skeptical about why Declan wanted to speak with her, but Feather set up a time for a call and a week later she was eagerly waiting by the phone at work, which the owner of the store agreed she could use. When Declan called, he first asked if Feather remembered him. She admitted that she didn't really, only having met him once during the one summer he came with Caelyn and her parents. He said it was not a problem, and that Caelyn seemed very excited to have gotten back in touch with her, to which Feather agreed that she was excited to be talking with Caelyn again. Declan told Feather that a vacancy had recently opened up at the diner, and wanted to know if Feather would be interested in working for him out in Akins City. Feather was speechless, and in a move that she knew would make her parents proud, asked for more information before blindly agreeing. She told him she had very little money and could not afford to live in the city, and just barely had enough to afford the train ride out there. He told her not to worry about the living situation, housing was provided for employees. After a few more questions, Feather agreed to work for him, and the two said goodnight and ended the call.Feather was expecting her parents to be angry with her, but it was just the opposite. They weren't excited by any means, but they knew there was nothing that this town could offer Feather. If she was to stay here, she was destined to find someone her own age, get married and have children while her husband worked in the mine. They let her go without a fuss, and a week from that call, Feather had purchased her train pass and was on the way to the city.Moving to Akins City
Caelyn was waiting for Feather at the train station, and the two rode to the diner together in a private car sent by Declan. They talked together as if they hadn't gone nearly a decade without seeing each other, which helped ease some of Feather's nerves about coming to a new place.
Once arriving at the Diner, she checked in with Declan who gave her more detailed information about the job, some of which surprised Feather. She wasn't sure she was up for the job after hearing all that was involved, but she didn't feel as if she had any other choice besides getting back on the train and going home. She had come all this way though, and was smart enough to know an opportunity like this was once in a life time.Feather decided to stay and work for Declan, and has been doing well gaining loyal regular customers and also making friends with her co-workers.Current Day
Feather's story is still being written and unfolding. At the present time in the story, she has lived in Akins City for around 3 months and is still getting to know the city and those around her.

Flowers

(flau-urz)

Nobody knows his real name, and despite the alias, Flowers is not someone to mess with. Although he is soft looking on the outside, Flowers has a reputation for being one of the most vicious cocaine peddlers in all of New Cascade City, and his reputation even spanning to other local cities.Flowers suffered a great loss in his teenage years, his parents were both fatally caught up in a random shooting. The gunman was never caught and Flowers was never given closure. Flowers says that it felt like something in him snapped that day, and he never was the same. Though, it does seem that in some specific cases, Flowers contradictorily has a gentle side. Those who know him personally would say that yes, Flowers has a the capability to be soft, having him as an enemy is nearly a death sentence.

Positive Traits
Flowers is incredibly charming, the kind of guy that others immediately find trustworthy, and to be fair, in most cases he is trustworthy-- just so long as its information he isn't particularly interest in. He has a lot of confidence and is highly social, almost immediately fitting in with the crowd. He is attentive and aware, paying close attention in every conversation he has, even if it seems like its just a small, passing conversation at the bus stop. He has the patience of a saint, and the perseverance to withstand long, dull conversation in order to get the information he is looking for.
He also, despite what others think of him, has a little bit of a gentle side, which he thinks strengthens him greatly. His enemies call him soft, but Flowers know exactly what he is capable of and knows that he can afford some kindness when its needed. For example, Flowers is never randomly violent, and is very friendly to strangers or those who do not find themselves on his bad side. He also has an ethical line where he's sworn to never harm women or children if it is absolutely not necessary.Flowers is very secretive about any part of his identity, from his real name to his past history and trauma suffered. He knows that the more his enemies know about him, the more they will use it against him. Which is exactly why he is so observant when it comes to others. This shows in two ways, the first that he pays very close attention in conversations with new strangers and old acquaintances. He mentally stores any information about them he can that may be useful in the future. The second form of observation is more personal and involves him perceiving what someone might know about him and if its any information he knows he's given out freely.Negative Traits
On the flip side of Flowers' observant personality, it also has caused him to become incredibly suspicious of others. He does his best to .
Feather also finds herself zoning out when others are talking, thinking about million things at once. Lazarus

(lah-zr-uhs)

Lazarus is the demon ruler of Cuadess and is said to be the creator of the realm. It is uncertain if this is true, as Lazarus has never spoken on it personally. Lazarus started as a guardian angel in Teaphis, but after seeing the mental distress that mortals underwent when believing that Teaphis was their afterlife, he spoke out saying that the treatment of mortals was unethical. Consequently, Lazarus became the first angel to go before The Council for banishment.

History

Life in Teaphis
Lazarus was a very successful angel in Teaphis, he had multiple charges and his good nature made him popular among the other residents. He kept track well of his tasks and was very careful to follow the laws that The Council had set in place. He visited Ohaes often, genuinely wanting to spend time with his charges. He began to feel sorry for them after some time, though. Their fear of not getting to go to Teaphis after death seemed to consume everything the mortals did, and Lazarus could do nothing about it. He had to keep the knowledge that Teaphis was not an afterlife to himself, and that he wasn't even really their guardian, just someone there to keep up the illusion and keep the belief in order to bring more power to Teaphis.
Years of this began to wear on him, Lazarus became reserved and resentful, keeping to himself when in Teaphis and spending most of his free time in Ohaes. This was before The Gate Keeper had been appointed, so the angels were free to leave Teaphis as they pleased. Lazarus traveled to many different places on Ohaes, getting to know different types of mortals who all seemed to be concerned with what happened after death. This was too much for him to handle, and Lazarus made his way back to Teaphis to speak before The Council, addressing his concerns about the unethical treatment of mortals. Lazarus insisted that they didn't need the mortals belief energy to keep Teaphis's perfect balance, and that The Council was too lazy run their realm themselves. This understandably upset The Council, and they banished Lazarus. This changed structure on Teaphis as well, The Council now became secluded-- they were on a power trip caused by the banishment. They no longer showed their faces as to keep their newfound power. Since he was the first to be banished, The Council did not take into consideration that they would need to strip Lazarus of his powers and memories. He regained his wings and knowledge of the realm, which was a mistake The Council was sure not to make again.Banishment
After being banished, Lazarus quickly had to adapt to his new life. He spent a very brief amount of time on Ohaes in Myrtkia Creek, a bustling swamp town. Myrtkia Creek was very adamant in their belief in the Teaphis afterlife, and Lazarus was sure that they would be willing to hear him out about the lies they had been told about Teaphis. Unfortunately for Lazarus, this had the opposite effect and the town became instantly suspicious of him, calling him a 'demon'. This was a word Lazarus had never heard before, though he knew he did not want to be an angel anymore, and took the title 'demon' with grace. This only made Myrtkia Creek's distrust of him grow stronger, and one night with literal pitchforks and torches in hand, they had planned to run him out of town.
Lazarus felt betrayed once again, he had done nothing wrong except try to enlighten the mortals that they were wasting their time, and that there was nothing waiting for them after death. Out of pure pent up rage, Lazarus unleashed what only could be described as dark energy, something Lazarus was unaware he even possessed. He killed half of the town in his fury, and when he regained control, he was in a different location completely.Arrival in Cuadess
Not sure where he was, Lazarus did know for certain he was nowhere on Ohaes. It appeared as if he was in a different realm completely, and in a skyscraper overlooking a dark city as far as he could see. There were no stars or moon in the sky, and Lazarus wondered if he was underground. Before him lay a fully functional and populated city. In the room he stood in, there was a desk with a golden plaque that read 'Lord Lazarus'. As he looked around the room, more came into focus, as if forming from smoke. Two guards stood by the door, their faces solemn and looking straight ahead. A servant placed a tray on his desk and filled his cup with hot coffee. Confusion was quickly replaced with pride, this was Cuadess, a realm all for himself.
It seemed as if Cuadess bent to his every whim, and an army was created of Lazarus's most trusted demons, as well as other sub-types of demons. Lazarus felt power for the first time in his life, and with the newfound power, he wanted revenge. Revenge on The Council and angels who betrayed him, but also the mortals who had shunned and feared him when he was only trying to help them. With this, to punish the mortals, he made legions of demons to travel to Ohaes to instill the belief of demons and Cuadess in them, drawing direct inspiration from Teaphis. The irony was not lost on Lazarus, but because of his desire for revenge, he did not care that he had become what he had set out to destroy.Current Day
Centuries have passed since Lazarus's banishment from Teaphis. Lazarus spends most of his time in Cuadess, however he will from time to time visit Ohaes as he has a few loyal mortal followers in Myrtkia Creek that report to him every so often. He met Demetri, a priest who's family had been part of the original pioneers of Myrtkia Creek. Upon getting to know Demetri, Lazarus learned that Demetri's ancestors had been victims of his wrath decades ago, unknown to Demetri. Lazarus has since kept this information to himself, not wanting to spoil his relationship with a mortal ally.
His plot for revenge on The Council comes into fruition more and more as time passes, and soon he will be ready to finally act.

Tofu

(toe-fu)

Tofu is a vampire rabbit who lives in Akins City, in their mid-twenties. They worked previously in an art gallery, but after the death of their estranged maternal grandmother, Tofu learned that they had inherited an antique shop called The Nightshade Book Emporium. Upon visiting the shop apartment above it, Tofu had found the Grimoire of Twilight, an ancient, leather bound tome. The Grimoire of Twilight showed Tofu a more complex and magical history than they could have ever imagined, and web of alliances their grandmother had managed with utmost skill. However, it was not all benevolent enchantments and wonderous history, it also revealed itself to be a nexus of magic and mystery with hidden doorways to enchanted realms. Tofu, longing for knowledge, navigates these realms with their partner, Sabrina, in an attempt to record as many as possible.

Basic Information

Positive Traits
Despite the perhaps risky at times tendencies to go through unknown realm doors that Tofu possesses, they are extremely alert and aware of a situation at all times. Tofu has been to enough realms to have the foresight to anticipate risks and possible dangerous outcomes of mostly any situations, regardless of if they are indeed related to realms or even just simple social situations. Tofu plans ahead, sometimes days in advance, looking for all possible options and always planning an exit strategy. They are also highly observant and has been through enough to trust their intuition first and foremost.
Tofu also is incredibly private. They don't share any personal details with anyone who doesn't need to know information about them or anything related to them. Tofu is very good at direction conversations to keep toward less personal topics or will deflect questions in a way that gives non-answers but doesn't really leave any further room for more prying. To any outsiders, Tofu is seemingly just a typical antique store owner and will try and make their job seem as boring as possible to keep anyone from asking too many questions.Tofu is sensible enough to know when someone is trying to get information out of them, but they have a very hard shell to crack. They are very good at controlling their emotions to seem neutral about anything that might be said, and sometimes will take a long time to reply in conversation if it means giving them a chance to really think things through as to not give anything away. Tofu's calm and soothing voice seems to subconsciously gain them a lot of trust and respect from others.Negative Traits
Even though Tofu is very alert at all times, it doesn't mean that they aren't also paranoid. If Tofu sees someone as a threat, they tend to act with aggression to get the individual(s) away from them without thinking it through. Being a prey animal, Tofu's fight or flight is heightened and though they are sensible and logical, any sort of fear can overtake Tofu completely very rapidly. Even if this is a low-level threat, it can cause Tofu to act irrationally or lead to sabotage on others or anything Tofu is working on.
Tofu also finds themself spending a lot of time in the antique store, even after hours. Tofu likes to boast that they've read every book in the store, front to back, multiple times. This can give an impression that Tofu is a bit of a know-it-all, especially when talking about magic. Tofu is a vampire and possesses no natural magic abilities of their own. Everything magic is granted to them by the grimoire, but that doesn't stop them from getting into arguments with actual magic users about logistics, and in an eagerness to show what they know, can come off as smug or insulting to others. Tofu also tends to take it personally when someone disagrees with them about something, even if it means the other is correct and Tofu is wrong. Tofu always wants to be the expert on something and wants to be the one others come to for help about certain subjects, especially when they pertain to magic. As mentioned, Tofu spends a lot of time in the shop even long after closing time or on days where they choose to keep the store closed for holidays or other events. They feel like there is always something to be done, and the shop can't be ignored for too long. It can sometimes be hard to pull Tofu away from the shop, and their friends often feel second-best compared to the shop. Tofu is decent at managing stress but has found themself pulling all-nighters in the name of the shop more than just a couple of times.

History

Early Life
Tofu was born into a matriarchal vampire coven, with no real information about who their father was. Their mother told them that it wasn't important, just that he was a vampire from another coven and wasn't allowed to be accepted into theirs. The thought of who he could be consumed Tofu for much of their early and pre-teen years, and really just had a fascination for male-ness altogether, much to the dismay of their coven. Tofu was curious about why male babies were immediately sent to live elsewhere and they never really got any answers about it, aside from the generic answer that this was a female only coven. This confused Tofu even more, because they never felt female, but didn't know enough about males to feel like one either. Tofu didn't know what exactly they were, but did know enough that they wouldn't bring it up to the coven, as it felt like it might warrant being cast out just like the male babies.
Tofu was always a reserved child, and didn't have many friends. Despite the coven being vampires, the younger ones still acted like normal kids and young girls. The girls in the coven expressed interest in topics that Tofu found themself not caring about at all, such as fashion, make up and other stereotypical feminine interests. They did have one friend, though, who's name Tofu has forgotten to time, that did enjoy the same things they did, such as catching frogs and picking mushrooms. When Tofu's friend turned eighteen, however, their friend elected to leave the coven and start a life of her own among mortals. Tofu was sad to see her go, but it also got them considering doing the same thing.Grandmother's Letters
The first letter that Tofu had ever gotten arrived shortly after their nineteenth birthday. It was promptly snatched from their hands and burned in front of them by their mother. The letter had been from their maternal grandmother, someone that Tofu had been told was dead until now. When Tofu was young, they had asked their mother where their grandmother was. Tofu's mother had told them that she had died long before Tofu had been born. Obviously now Tofu was seeing this wasn't the case, and demanded to know who and where their grandmother was. Tofu's mother told them that she had been secretly sneaking away from the coven to see a male, the same one who had sired Tofu's mother. When this was discovered, Tofu's grandmother had been excommunicated from the coven and not allowed to return. Tofu's mother had been very young when this happened, and others in the coven had stepped up to help raise her. Upon learning this, Tofu felt extremely betrayed and thought about leaving the coven right then and there, just as their friend had done. But Tofu had no knowledge of the world outside of the coven, and stayed another year, hoping that their grandmother would send another letter. Unfortunately, it would be a while before Tofu would hear from their grandmother again.
Leaving the Coven
At age twenty-one, Tofu finally decided they were ready to leave the coven. Still feeling out of place in the matriarchy, Tofu wanted to see what the rest of the world had to offer. Their departure was very quiet, only telling their mother about their plans. Their mother was less than understanding, warning Tofu that if they left, they would not easily be welcomed back to the coven. Tofu understood this and told their mother that they wouldn't want to come back anyway. This was the last nail in the proverbial coffin, and Tofu's mother slammed the door behind them without another word. Not knowing where to go, Tofu made their way to a small rural village not too far from where the coven stayed. They had frequented this town regularly; it was a typical feasting ground for their monthly feeding.
Luckily for Tofu, they had a couple hundred dollars that had been sent to them from their father. It was not uncommon for the girls in the coven to be sent money sparingly from their fathers, in hopes that one day they might leave their coven and join their fathers instead. The money was used to entice, but also to cover any possible travel costs. Otherwise, there wasn't any use for money in Tofu's coven, they were all self-sufficient and made as little contact with other covens as possible and never spoke to non-vampires. Tofu used some of their father's gift money to buy a ticket to a bus that only ran to Akins City. The Nightshade Book Emporium
Tofu had been living in Akins City for nearly a year before getting another letter from their grandmother. Tofu had finessed their way into a job at a local art gallery which paid enough for a small shoebox apartment. The letter was slid under their door one winter morning, and upon reading it, Tofu learned of their grandmother's death. Tofu was saddened by this, despite not knowing her and having never spoken to her, not even in the form of letters. Tofu was surprised to see that they were in their grandmother's will and had inherited an old antique book store called The Nightshade Book Emporium which was located on the other side of the city. This made them feel like there was a brick in their stomach, the idea that their grandmother had been in Akins City the whole time and Tofu hadn't known. Nevertheless, the next day Tofu took the train to the antique shop, not expecting too much. But to their surprise, the shop took up an entire building, with an apartment living space above the store that was much nicer than Tofu's current residence.
Inside, the shop was very dusty and dark, as if no one had actually been in there for years, but the apartment on the next floor up was definitely recently lived in. There was a book on the kitchen table with a small note from their grandmother next to it that read 'Use this wisely'. Tofu wasn't sure if this was supposed to be ominous, but when they opened the book, it was like it had sprung to life. Tofu was shocked to hear a voice in their head, that belonged to the book. It told her that its name was The Grimoire of Twilight, but Tofu's grandmother had affectionately called it Twilight, and Tofu could do the same if they wished. Tofu was stunned to her the book communicating with them, but listened as it told them all about their grandmother and the secrets held within the shop. Tofu learned that only those apart of an occult could see the shop, mortals could not and just skip right past it.Tofu learned a lot from the book in the following months, and it seemed like whenever they needed to add something to Twilight, new blank pages appeared in the back of the book, looking just as old and worn but completely empty. Tofu enjoyed reading the notes that their grandmother had included as well, and Tofu spent a lot of time trying to figure out who the other owners of Twilight had been before their grandmother, but no answers ever came to Tofu as they really had no idea where to start looking. The shop ran slowly, since occults were not generally common, there was not a lot of traffic inside the store. One cold winter afternoon, a cocker spaniel came into the store, asking if Tofu had any wolfsbane for sale. She said that the apothecary she usually went to was out of stock, since the early winter had wiped out the plants grown by the supplier. She just wanted to see if this shop had any before checking the apothecary across the city, as that was a days trip. Tofu remembered reading about wolfsbane in Twilight, and that werewolves gathered it a few days before the full moon to bring to a witch to brew a wolfsbane serum to suppress the effects on their transformation. Tofu apologized, saying that they only had books and a couple other antiques for sale. The cocker spaniel understood, quickly introduced herself as Sabrina, and left. Tofu saw her again a few weeks later, when Sabrina came in asking again about the wolfsbane. Tofu almost didn't catch on that Sabrina was just here to talk to them, and that she knew what Tofu sold in the store. This carried on for a month or two more, before Tofu finally took the hint and asked Sabrina out to coffee. Tofu couldn't have any coffee, which tipped Sabrina off that they were a vampire. This didn't scare her off though, just as her being a werewolf did not scare off Tofu. A few more weeks of coffee dates and the two made their relationship official.Realm Hopping
Tofu was in their mid twenties now, and aging really started to slow down. They still looked young, despite Sabrina's insistence that they still celebrated birthdays for Tofu even if no obvious aging was occurring. The two had many somber nights, with Tofu silently pleading to the deities that despite Sabrina being a werewolf, there would be some way to change her to a vampire and make her immortal with Tofu. Unfortunately there is no way to mix occults, and since lycanthropy cannot be cured, Tofu seemed to be out of luck. This didn't waver their relationship, though, and Tofu still counted their years in order to keep up with Sabrina, also in her mid twenties now.
On Tofu's twenty-fifth birthday, Twilight woke them up with a blinding light that seemed to be coming from its pages within. Tofu, still groggy with sleep, attempted to close Twilight but was unsuccessful. The book seemed annoyed with them, finally giving some instructions. "Point me at a wall", the voice of the book had said in Tofu's mind. Tofu did as they were told, and pointed the book at a brick wall of the apartment. An outline of a doorway that appeared to be made of golden light appeared on the wall, and the light from Twilight faded, but the outline remained. Tofu didn't wait for Twilight to tell them to go through it. They felt a pang of guilt, Sabrina was supposed to be there in an hour to start Tofu's birthday celebrations, but they decided a quick look around wouldn't hurt. They grabbed at the wall where the doorknob was outlined, and to Tofu's surprise, a physical knob materialized in their hand. They slowly opened the door, having no idea what to expect. Through the door was a beautiful, dense forest. Urged by Twilight, they went through the door and stepped lightly onto the mossy ground below their feet. The door behind Tofu disappeared, sparking a sense of terror. Twilight reassured them that once they figured out the reason they were sent to this realm and fulfilled whatever the task was, Twilight would gain back the ability to make the door reappear and Tofu could go home. This was still nerve wracking, as Tofu had no idea where they were, but Twilight reassured them that this first task was easy. Not twenty feet from where they were standing, the sun shone through the trees of the forest, illuminating a small clearing full of the plant wolfsbane. The purple flowers on the plant almost seemed to be waving at Tofu, to let them know this is why they had come to the forest. Tofu asked Twilight if this was the solution, but the book was silent. Assuming the silence was a hint, Tofu plucked as much of the plant as their hands could carry. Once the clearing was cleaned out of wolfsbane and Tofu had stuffed it all in their pockets, Twilight once again illuminated, and Tofu pointed it at the trunk of a thick tree where an outline of a door appeared.Stepping back through the door brought Tofu back to their apartment. They looked at the digital clock on their bedstand, not even a minute had passed since they had been through the door. This didn't feel possible, and Tofu stuck their hands in their pockets and felt that they were still full of wolfsbane. Twilight told them that they were now ready to use its powers to visit different realms, for various different reasons. There was no way for Tofu to call upon a realm door on their any whim, but Twilight explained the realm doors appear when something important is either needed from the realm, or something needs to be done within it. Twilight also explained that it would not be able to give any hints about what the task was and could only offer words of encouragement.Later that evening, Tofu told Sabrina all about what happened with Twilight and the doorway. Sabrina was at first uneasy at the thought of Tofu going to other realms for unknown reasons and unknown amounts of time, but once Tofu showed her the wolfsbane they had gathered from the realm earlier that day, Sabrina's tune quickly changed and the two of them decided that perhaps it wasn't all that bad to go through the doorways.Current Day
Tofu and Sabrina are both in their late twenties now, Tofu still not showing any signs of aging. The two have been through dozens of doors now, finding realms ranging from as peaceful and straightforward as collecting the wolfsbane, to visiting a realm full of venomous wyverns to retrieve an amulet that one of Twilight's previous owners had left behind and now Twilight wanted back. Tofu still runs the shop, and Sabrina opened her own apothecary with various plants found in the other realms that were not native to Ohaes and offered various healing properties. Tofu has recently taken an interest in their grandmother's death, since it was rare for vampires to die. Solving this mystery, as well as logging as many realms as possible, has taken up much of Tofu's free time and attention.

Relationships

Significant Other
Sabrina- Sabrina is a werewolf that Tofu met while working in the shop. It is said that vampires and werewolves do not get along, but this couldn't be more opposite for Tofu and Sabrina. Sabrina's outgoing personality and eagerness to work and talk with others compliments Tofu's more serious personality very well. Sabrina enjoys visiting realms with Tofu, her knack for adventure always comes in handy as a companion for Tofu. The two know they cannot be together for all of eternity, stifled by the fact werewolves cannot live forever. They try not to dwell on it for too long and enjoy the time they do have together.
FriendsAcquaintances
Frazier- The first fallen angel that Tofu met. Frazier had entered the shop one day to look for a book on demons, to help someone out. Unfortunately, at the time, Tofu had nothing to help them. Frazier began spilling information freely that Tofu had not asked for, saying they needed the book for a new acquaintance who was being tracked by demons. Tofu expressed they wanted nothing to do with this, as even knowing about it felt like it would put them and Sabrina at danger. In an attempt to usher the chimera angel out of the store, Tofu said that they get new stock in books occasionally, and they could try back another time. Because of this, Frazier has come back monthly to check out Tofu's new stock and will often times info dump on Tofu without any prior expression of interest from Tofu.
Other
Twilight- Tofu isn't really sure what to classify Twilight as. More of a guidance than anything, but the two do have a fun relationship with occasional quips and sarcasm coming from the book itself.

Teaphis

(tee-fis)

Teaphis is a realm in another dimension that exists as the home to the angel race. The origins of the realm are unknown, and the complete history and creation date are also unknown, even to the leaders of the realm. The rulers of Teaphis are The Council, a four-member deciding force that enforces law and passes judgement on the residents of Teaphis. The Council has always existed since the beginning of Teaphis, making more angels to populate the realm as needed.

Climate and Topography

Teaphis is a relatively small realm, only about 40 square miles. Around the exterior is a tall, gilded fence that keeps residents in and invaders out. At the gate of the fence, there is a single teleportation device imbedded into the ground that allows realm travel. Just past the device is the edge of Teaphis, which gives the impression that you could walk off and fall into space. To the north is the tallest peak in the realm, The Light Summit. The mountain is uninhabited and is not normally visited. The Light Summit has no cultural significance to the residents of Teaphis, and is such not climbed recreationally or really even noticed. Most residents have taken to calling it 'the mountain' instead of its proper name, and only really mention it when giving directions to a residence. The climate and weather in Teaphis is always exactly the same, every single day. The time of day is always the same, dusk, with a dark navy sky above and a pink and orange sunset in the west. There is always a sliver of a crescent moon above, and thousands of stars littered across the sky. The temperature in Teaphis always sits at a cool 72 degrees Fahrenheit, and there is no weather aside from a few occasional clouds that pass through, but never completely block out the sky. There is no rain, snow, fog, or anything else related.

Government

While there is not a government in the traditional sense, The Council does exist to pass judgement on the residents. The judgement is induced from what is perceived as law breaking. Once a resident goes up for judgement, it will always result in banishment even if it is proven that the resident is innocent. The Council
The Council is made up of four members, who have been a part of The Council since the beginning of Teaphis. These members include Ramiel the Wise, Ioath the Just, Adellum the Powerful, and Briathos the Revered. The Council decides when it is time to create a new angel, and they enforce the following of the laws set for Teaphis since its origin. Very few have ever seen The Council, since the average resident of Teaphis would only go before them to await judgement, which always results in immediate banishment, therefore no one has ever spread the tale of what they look like.
Banishment by the Council
Once The Council has cast judgement resulting in banishment, the angel on trial is sent to live out their remaining days in Ohaes. This is carried through by The Gate Keeper, who is in charge of sending the angel away. If done correctly, the banishment will take away the angel's wings, memories of Teaphis, any magic abilities, and immortal lifespan. However, The Gate Keeper is prone to distractions and will sometimes not completely take away a component, or just forget to take it away entirely. It is not uncommon for banished angels to keep wings that are at least a fraction of their original size, and even traces of their magic. It is more uncommon for The Gate Keeper to completely forget to take away memories and immortal lifespan, but it has happened in the past on at least one occasion.
Teaphis Law
The laws in Teaphis are as old as the realm itself, they have existed since the origin along with The Council. Some of the more important laws are as follows:
-No one shall leave Teaphis without authorization from The Gate Keeper
-There is to be no interaction with demons or other creatures from Cuadess, even if it is in neutral ground such as Ohaes
-No bringing back mortal items from Ohaes, even if it is something that can be found in Teaphis
-No reading of unauthorized materials
These laws, and a few other less common ones, are all offenses punished with banishment.
The Gate Keeper
While the Gate Keeper is not technically part of a government or the ruling council, it is still important to oversee who is coming in and out of the realm. Guardian angels report to the Gate Keeper before visiting Ohaes to check on their charges. The Gate Keeper does not leave their post for any circumstance.
The Librarian
The Librarian oversees the Grand Library located on a hill in the eastern part of the town square area of Teaphis. The Librarian is not a part of The Council, though she has a very important role of running and maintaining the library. She has read every book in the library, which is among the thousands. The Librarian removes any books with mentions of demons or Cuadess, and will also censor books with information in them that are not information that the angels need to know.

The Angels

The residents of Teaphis are a race of angels, which appear in normal bodies but have wings that allow for flight. They don't wear typical clothing either, usually it is robes of various pastel colors made of silk. Angels do not need basic resources such as food or water to survive, but quite a few of them enjoy indulging in various types of tea made with local flora. Angels do not experience any romantic or sexual attraction, and there are no families or relationships beyond friendship.Angels are not born, therefore there is always a finite amount of them that exist. The Council knows exactly what is needed at all times, and when a new angel is needed to fill a specific role, they are created by The Council and have a basic understanding of what their role will be. They are shown to their new home in the residents area near the lake, and will take weekly lessons at the training facility to better understand their role and train for it. Training will happen for several years, which leads several to believe The Council can predict the future since the role technically will not be fulfilled for some time. It would appear as if The Council knows how far in the future a certain angel will be needed, and therefore creates them early enough to be fully trained by the needed point in time.Militant
The highest ranking angels aside from The Council, the Gate Keeper, and the Librarian, the militant angels form the army which is the first line of defense at the gate that surrounds the exterior of Teaphis. The angels are the biggest and strongest, usually taking a masculine form and are in the shape of more intimidating animals such as lions, bears, dragons and bulls. It is not uncommon for these types of angels to have multiple sets of wings on their backs. They are equipped with various weapons to use in the event that there is an intruder. Militant angels are usually the most revered and respected of the types.
Healers
Healing angels are trained in the art of healing, mainly only needed to help the militant angels who are harmed from intruders. Since intruders are rare, the army does not often get hurt and thus not a lot of healers are needed, making them the smallest population. They usually take a feminine form, and appear as non-threatening species in order to bring as much comfort and reassurance to injured militant angels as possible. Healers are not as powerful as the militant angels, though they are almost just as respected since they directly care for the army.
Guardians
Guardian angels are the most plentiful, therefore are often just shrugged off as common and not as socially special. They can appear in any shape and animal form, and are typically the only ones who will ever be visiting Ohaes. Guardians are assigned charges, sometimes hundreds of them. They are typically visiting their charges individually once every few months, and will offer words of guidance and encouragement in order to retain the mortal's belief and therefore giving energy to Teaphis. Mortals believe their guardian is only seeing them, not aware that any one guardian could have hundreds of more mortals they are seeing. Guardians have no real ability to help their mortal charge, but instead are tasked with making it seem like they can protect and influence their mortal's life in order to retain that belief.
Starwatchers
These angels are tasked with keeping an eye on celestial events and influence them on occasion as well. Starwatchers maintain the harmonious flow of cosmic energies and ensure the energy that powers Teaphis is plentiful. There are only a total of six Starwatchers and they are stationed in tower observatories around Teaphis and never leave.
Scribes
Scribes are assigned to the library mostly, they are in charge of logging all of the new books constantly flowing into the Grand Library. They pass them off to The Librarian and record where in the library they will be organized. There is also a single scribe assigned to The Council who never is able to leave the Council Chambers.

Mortal Involvement

Afterlife and Religious Belief
Mortals are often lead to believe by their guardians that Teaphis is an afterlife they will be sent to after death. Guardians will lie and say that they were once mortals as well and were able to go to Teaphis because they maintained belief in the angels. Teaphis is not in fact an afterlife, and is an entirely separate realm. Mortals are unable to go there when they die because Teaphis does not allow mortal visitors.
Those who believe that Teaphis is the afterlife follow a religion called Eevuthoism, which stems from the fictional creator that mortals essentially created called Eevuthos. Eevuthos does not and not ever existed, and has nothing to do with Teaphis. However, the angels have been ordered by The Council to not correct mortals on this, and allow them to believe in Eevuthos in order to keep belief up. The Council does not care who in Teaphis the mortals believe in, as long as they believe.Teaphis Belief
The belief of Teaphis is so important to the angels and The Council because it powers the realm. The mere thought of Teaphis from thousands of mortals at any given time gives Teaphis enough energy magic to keep the realm in its perfect state. The Council, of course, could use their power and magic to keep the realm in its perpetual state of dusk, or the climate exactly the way they like it to be at any given time, but since mortals seem willing enough to do so for the, the Council is more than happy to exploit that. Thus, the religion was born and perpetuated by The Council, and any of the angels who come into direct contact with mortals on Ohaes.

Notable Locations

Residental Area
In the middle of the realm is Lake Calline, surrounded by small cottages where the angels reside. There are different street names and neighborhood names depending on where around Lake Calline an angel lives. House are built instantly for new angels that are created by the council. There is no electricity in Teaphis, so all homes are lit by enchanted candle light, which does not pose a risk for igniting the house. There is a gas stove and kitchen for aesthetic purposes, since very few angels cook. These houses have no bathrooms since the angels do not need them, and usually have one bedroom.
All angels live in this residential area, and the travel time from the neighborhoods to the town depends on which side of Lake Calline a resident lives on. However, since all angels can fly, this isn't a huge issue as they can just fly over the lake if they wish, instead of walking all the way to the town.Town Square
Town square is to the south of Lake Calline and The Light Summit, and is full of different types of shops. These shops are run by guardian angels who do not have a charge to visit that particular day, or healers who often times do not have any actual work needed to be done, since the army remains untouched because the risk of invaders is always so low.
These shops have goods such as flower bundles, paintings, or any other creative crafts that the angels have picked up as hobbies. Most indoor decor is created by another angel, and the most skilled artisans take requests to match a specific aesthetic for another angel's home. There is no currency in Teaphis, so angels will "shop" by trading goods they've created, or can even sometimes just praise the other's ego enough to have the owner part with the item. It is rare that an angel won't have something to trade, though, as most of them have an abundance of free time and use that time to pick up a hobby that can be used in the trade. There is also a small park on the west side of the town, which is a sitting area for the angels to mingle with each other. There are no children in Teaphis, so there is no need for a playground inside of the park. It is just used as a very general meeting area, which angels can talk, work on their art, read or really do whatever they want.Training Facility
The training facility is right next to the gate, and it doubles as the headquarters for the military. It is a rather boring looking building, solid white and square, one of the only places in Teaphis that isn't gilded in some way. Once a week on their own specific day, angels who are still learning their skill will visit the training facility to work on it. There are separate rooms for each type of angel, as none of them overlap with each other and don't need to be in the same learning environment. The healers and guardians learn in a classroom type environment, while the militant angels learn in a gymnasium.
Militant angels also have their barracks here, which is where they will stay when on duty. A militant angel serves three weeks at a time on duty, and then get a month off. They rotate this schedule so that there are constantly angels on duty, but allowing time off for relaxation and fun. The barracks are basic dorms, housing four angels per room and a cafeteria for meals. They have access to the gymnasium that the trainees use.The Grand Library
The Grand Library sits atop a hill in the eastern part of the town square. The library is available to the public, and does not close, therefore allowing visitors anytime.
The library's exterior is magnificent, a huge golden building that seems to reflect the last bit of the sunlight cast by the ever-setting sun in the west. The outside of the building is large, but somehow it seems even bigger on the inside. There are thousands of books here, possibly even hundreds of thousands of them. The Librarian has read them all and can instantly point patrons in the right direction of whatever it is they are looking for. This includes fiction books written by angel residents who have donated their stories to the library, to be bound and collected by the Librarian, history books of Teaphis that seem to write themselves and appear when another volume is needed, various nonfiction about the types of flowers that grow around Teaphis, and even autobiographies penned by The Council members themselves. However, if something does not exist in Teaphis, there is no mention of it in the library. This means that there are no cookbooks, no reference guides to flora in Ohaes, no books about electricity and electronics, no biographies of the greats who lived in Oheas, and definitely no mention of demons or Cuadess. In fact, even entering the library and expressing intent about demons will get a resident summoned to judgement before The Council almost instantly. The Librarian removes any books like these that find their way in unexpectedly, and will censor any new books that appear if they have any unsavory information about The Council or such, but are otherwise fine for residents to read. The Council Chambers
Probably the building the fewest have seen the interior of, and none have ever left the building to tell the tale. Going inside means that an individual have been summoned for judgement, which always results in banishment no matter if found innocent or guilty. The exterior has a Parthenon look to it, with golden columns located right in the middle of the town square. Once entering, there is a large, spacious room with four thrones towering above, which each seat one of the four members of The Council. The floor is marble flecked with gold, and the thrones are all made of solid gold. There is a single curved surface in front of all of the thrones, connecting The Council's seats together where they can keep documents needed to review judgement.
Aside from The Council, the only other figures in the room are two large sentinel guardians and a scribe assigned to The Council to keep record of all judgement. The sentinel guardians are faceless, golden figures, which have a normal body shape but do not resemble any animal in particular. They are not a class of angel, and have no function other than to keep guard inside of The Council Chambers.

Cuadess

(coo-ay-dess)

Cuadess is a realm in another dimension that is home to the demon race. The realm's exact origins are unknown, but it is strongly believed that it was created by an angel who was banished from Teaphis a long time ago. Cuadess is ruled by Lazarus, who is rumored to be the banished angel who created Cuadess, since he has been the sole leader from seemingly the start. Very few get a chance to meet and speak with Lazarus, however, and even then any conversations about the realm's creation are usually pushed back in importance.

Climate and Topography

Cuadess's weather is consistent throughout the entire realm, usually cold and raining, occasionally snowing if the temperature drops enough. Cuadess always has the appearance of night-time, but there are no stars or moon in the sky which gives the realm a feeling of being underground. Therefore, all light is artificial. The entirety of Cuadess is a large sprawling city, with not much nature aside from a few parks with dead grass and other vegetation. All vegetables and fruit grown in Cuadess have to be done in greenhouses with artificial light. Since there is no farmland, these greenhouses are at various points through out the realm, some of them nearly half a mile across.

Government

Cuadess works somewhat as a dictatorship, Lazarus being at the top and is the only sort of ruler that exists. There is no democracy, no voting on anything by citizens. Whatever Lazarus decides is best for the realm is what is put into action without the input of anyone else, except on extremely rare occasions where he will seek out the advice of the Archfiends.Cuadess Law
The laws of Cuadess are usually set in stone without much room for compromise. Penalties for breaking these laws come with torture or even banishment in some cases, which is harder (and more preferable) to get.
-Unquestioning submission to Lazarus is required at all times. Anyone speaking ill against Lazarus is subject to torture or banishment.
-It is forbidden for mortals or other occults to enter Cuadess without explicit permission from Lazarus. Failure to comply will result in death to the visiting mortal/occult and torture for the demon who brought them in without permission.
-The hierarchy of demons must be followed at all times, with unquestioning respect given to the higher ranks. The ranks are as follows: Lazarus, followed by The Archfiends, followed by Pit Fiends, Incubi and Succubi, and Gate Keepers, followed by Common Demons, and lastly Imps and Hellhounds.
-In the event of an invasion from rival realms or celestial forces, all demons are required to rally under the banner of the Lazarus and defend the realm at all costs. Failure to do so is considered treasonous and punishable by the most severe means.
-Mortals or other occults captured within the demon realm may be subjected to eternal servitude or enslavement, with their souls bound to the will of their demonic masters. Rebellion against their infernal overlords is futile and results in eternal torment.
-Personal relationships formed with mortals or other occults is punishable by torture and/or banishment.

The Demons

Demons are the residents of Cuadess, and most appear to have similar body shapes and features as mortals or even the angels. Some demons have large, bat-like wings but not all of them. Unlike their angel "counterparts", Demons do need to eat, drink and sleep. They sexually reproduce, and countless new demons are born each year. All demons are able to reproduce, but there are some classes of demon who choose not to, specifically the higher ranking classes. These would only reproduce if one of the parents needed a replacement.Overpopulation is starting to become an issue in Cuadess, but Lazarus has shown no interest in putting a stop to it or even helping those demons who are starving or homeless because there is not enough food to go around. Because of the overpopulation, inflation in prices is a real problem in the demon realm and many have to travel to Ohaes and other places to find food. The Archfiends
The Archfiends report directly to Lazarus, and carry out his bidding when he demands it. However, he doesn't need them all that often, and they are left to their own devices for the most part. They enjoy traveling out of Cuadess, mostly going to Ohaes. There are four Archfiends, Rivera the Archfiend of War, Lilith the Archfiend of Temptation, Valasqueth the Archfiend of Disease, and Astaroth the Archfiend of Deceit. The Archfiends each have factional armies of Pit Fiends that report to them and are extremely dangerous.
Pit Fiends
Pit Fiends are strong militant demons who serve the will of the Archfiends, and carry out different duties depending on which archfiend they serve. Pit Fiends are trained in combat from the moment they are born, separated from their parents who are usually also Pit Fiends. They grow up in barracks dedicated to the Archfiend they serve.
Succubi and Incubi
These are demonic seductresses and seducers that specialize in manipulating mortals through temptation and desire, and unlike other demons, need the mortal's energy to survive alongside food, drink and sleep. They are a special favorite of Lazarus and some laws do not apply to them as they would for lesser demons. As such, they will often times report directly to Lazarus as he uses them as spies to gather information. Succubi and Incubi are disliked by the Archfiends for this.
Imps
Lesser demons that perform various tasks for their superiors, such as carrying out minor acts of malevolence, spreading chaos, or tormenting souls. Imps are generally disliked by all other demons and there have been several movements to try and remove them from Cuadess.
Hellhounds
Pets of Lazarus, all canines. Despite still being bipedal and having the intelligence of other demons, they are still treated as lesser. The most notable Hellhound is Dytria, the Cerberus. She is considered the mother of all Hellhounds, even though there is no relationship to any other Hellhound. She is called this simply because of her species and favor by Lazarus. Hellhounds are used to track down specific beings that Lazarus is looking for.
Gatekeepers
Militant Demons who keep watch over the outer boarders of the realm. They do not rotate out of their posts, and are assigned to their post for all of eternity. They are specifically assigned by Lazarus who sees that their needs are met in ways that allow them to stay at their posts without leave.
Common Demons
Common demons make up a majority of the population of Cuadess. Most do not possess any specific power, just the title of Demon. These are just the average citizens, working in the restaurants, shops, schools, etc. Most of them want nothing to do with mortals and like to have as little contact with them as possible, but there are a few who will leave Cuadess to spend their time harassing mortals. Because of this, Ohaes (their most regular destination) has been on high alert for demons. Lazarus has set a law for common demons to have all Ohaes trips recorded, as to see who is causing problems and making things more difficult for him to carry out because of mortal suspicion. A few follow these laws, but most have found ways around signing in and out and go to Ohaes under the radar.

Mortal Involvement

Afterlife and Religious Belief
As a sort of counterpart to Teaphis, mortals believe that Cuadess is where you will go for eternal punishment if you have lived your mortal life in a way that Teaphis would not approve of. This is not true, and none of the demons from Cuadess actually perpetuate this. This lie was spread by the angels of Teaphis in order to keep belief at a maximum at all times as belief benefits the realm of Teaphis directly. The only way a mortal would be able to enter Cuadess is if they are directly brought there by a demon, which is strictly prohibited unless given permission from Lazarus.
Lazarus strongly dislikes this belief of Cuadess as an afterlife that mortals have, as he himself left Teaphis because of his hatred for tricking the mortals for the benefit of the angels. However, centuries of living in Cuadess has warped the morals of Lazarus and he has no issues with punishment for mortals he captures and brings back to the realm as he believes they deserve it.

Economy

Wages are earned in Cuadess by working at shops or restaurants that are privately owned. A few wealthy demons who have been around for centuries usually own these establishments and are the ones paying out wages, usually poverty level amounts. However, as there is no other alternative, the wages are accepted and used to pay for housing rent, also privately owned. Inflation is at an all time high and many demons are starving and homeless, but the economy does not take this into account and therefore does not change. Lazarus is aware of the inflation issue with his people going hungry and homeless, but he does not care. Many demons have resorted to unauthorized trips to Ohaes to steal from mortals. Real gold is very valuable in Cuadess as only the most wealthy demons can afford it. There was a finite amount of gold mined from Cuadess in the very early days of the realm and it is rare and sought after. Many demons will travel to Ohaes to steal gold and sell it on the black market back in Cuadess.

Bastea

(baz-tee)

Bastea is a planet located in the Arlos spiral galaxy, in a solar system of thirteen other planets. None of the other plants in the solar system are inhabited by life and it is unknown currently if any other planets in the Arlos galaxy have life on them.Bastea is the fourth planet from the solar system's sun (just called the sun). Life is sustained on Bastea due to the large amount of water found on the planet's surface, almost 80% of the planet is covered in salt water. Bastea has one continental land mass, Ohaes, that harbors most of Bastea's known life, as a vast majority of the ocean is unexplored due to lack of interest. Bastea has an equator that runs horizontally through the middle of the planet, creating a Northern and Southern hemisphere, however most of Ohaes is located in the Northern Hemisphere, with a small portion of the continent being close to the equator. Bastea has a northern and southern pole, which are both covered in sheets of ice and uninhabitable, although this is where most of the fresh water on Bastea is located.Bastea's atmosphere protects it from most projectiles from space, such as meteors, and helps shield the planet from UV-light from the sun. The atmosphere is mostly made up of nitrogen and oxygen. Water vapor in the air causes humidity and also the formation of clouds. These cover most of the planet and since the continent of Ohaes isn't very large, the weather across the land is generally the same, the only differences being the regions closer to the Northern and Southern poles.Bastea is a round planet, and not very big compared to other planets in the solar system. It has a diameter of about 4800 km and the densest of the thirteen planets. It has a rocky exterior and is nine and a half light minutes away from the sun. It orbits the sun and takes about 365 days to orbit completely, and spins completely on its axis every 24 hours. The orbit of the sun causes four-basic seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. It is unclear how Bastea was formed, and there are too many hypotheses to list, but leading ones suggest it was formed by breaking off of a larger rocky mass caused by a collision of some sort. Because of Bastea's smaller size, it only has one moon that's just called 'the moon'. The moon's orbit around Bastea is used to calculate months. A few local constellations are visible, and notable stars. There is some mythology surrounding the constellations and stars, used in stories from centuries ago. Occasionally, other planets in the solar system can be seen at certain times of the year.

Ohaes

(oh-hay-ees)

Ohaes is the only land mass on the planet of Bastea, and holds known population of the planet, said as a formality since the under-water exploration has been lacking.

Physical Features

Regions
The continent of Ohaes is split into twelve regions.
Akins City - The capital region, and the most populated of the regions. Akins City is a huge, sprawling metropolis that has great economic possibility but also a high crime rate. A lot of individuals from other regions will attempt to move here but have to leave after only a few months as the prices are higher than most can afford if not already established in the city.
New Cascade City - The second largest region and somehow with an even higher crime rate than Akins City. New Cascade is somewhat the butt of a joke and treated as a trashy place to live. However, they are currently the leaders on Ohaes when it comes to technological advances.
High Tide Island - A beach island right off the mainland, and the number one tourist destination on Ohaes. The weather is, for the most part, nice all year long and the tourist season hardly slows down.
Myrtkia Creek - Small swamp town in the southern portion of Ohaes, not too far from High Tide Island. There are very few residents who still live here and the town gets virtually no traffic on account of the rumors that it is haunted and visited by demons from another realm.
Lonely Peak - Located in the mountain range on the North-Western part of Ohaes. A large mountain chain home to several settlements of woodworkers and coal miners. Communities here are very close knit and not always friendly to outsiders.
Hidden Point - A series of cliffs right below the Lonely Peak settlements. These cliffs border the ocean to the west, and those who live in this region usually have jobs in the off-shore fishing industry.
The Autumn Lands - A large portion of the North-Eastern part of Ohaes is claimed by the autumn lands. A clear border separates the Autumn Land from surrounding regions, it is walled in and very little visitors are allowed so it is mostly held in secrecy to outsiders. All that is known is there was a curse placed on the lands centuries ago that causes the land to be in perpetual autumn season.
Eclipse Lake - Another popular tourism destination, although nowhere near the levels that High Tide Island sees. Eclipse lake is the largest body of fresh water on Bastea and has several towns on the shores of the lake.
The Slumbering Wood - The largest forest on Ohaes. It is a National Forest and is protected land that can be visited but not lived in without special permits. It connects to Eclipse Lake and shares a lot of land with the water.
Horseshoe Canyon - A desert and mesa region, with only a small population of settlements and towns, most inhabited by those who can withstand high temperatures during the day and extreme lows at night. There is almost no reason for outsiders to come here, and the locals are usually suspicious of travelers.
The Abandoned Yonder - A prairie and flat grassland to the east of Horseshoe Canyon. As its name suggests, it is entirely abandoned because of the extreme weather. Tornados, lightning storms, heatwaves and derechos. It is strongly advised to not travel through The Abandoned Yonder, and if it is absolutely necessary, to strictly stay on the roads.
Crystal Tundra - Besides the poles of Bastea, the Crystal Tundra is the only place that is covered in snow and ice all times of the year. Despite the freezing sub-zero temperatures, there is quite a population that lives there.
Roads
Ohaes has an intricate road system, despite most cities and towns being completely walkable. Roads are mostly for transportation of goods to different areas, as there is also a high-speed rail system. Airports are less common, however, and flying is not regularly used as a common mode of transportation except for the ultra-wealthy who have their own private planes.
Population
The entire population of Ohaes, according to a recent census, was sitting just above 10 million, with the most residents living, of course, in Akins City and New Cascade city. The average life expectancy of an individual, regardless of gender, is around 84 years old, and a lifespan can be up to 120 years. Family sizes average 3-5 direct members per house hold. All anthro-species, common and fantastic, exist on Ohaes.
Borders
All regions, except for The Autumn Lands, have open borders that anyone can cross into freely. They are usually marked with a 'Welcome To' sign on the common roads and railways to signal entrance into a new region. Borders were set centuries ago and have never changed since being established.
Climate
Despite Ohaes being the only landmass on the planet, the climate can have a large range. Since the entire continent is in the Northern Hemisphere, all seasons are experienced at the same time, but distance from the equator dictates of the seasonal changes are felt.
Seasons last three, thirty-day months, and consist of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
Ecosystem
The ecosystem mostly consists of different types of flora, with the diversity depending on location. There exists 'feral' animals, left behind that did not evolve to become "intelligent" and bipedal. Several of the animals that exist as feral are animals used for agriculture and are in contained areas and not wild. The most common feral animals are types of fish and birds.

Government

General Government
Although the twelve regions of Ohaes can differ greatly in a cultural standpoint, they are all still technically under one large over-arching government, with mayors and other forms of local government in the cities and towns, the only exception being The Autumn Lands which is a centuries-old Monarchy and does not follow most laws in place of the rest of Ohaes.
The rest of Ohaes, however, is a democracy with one elected President. There has never been a female president, nor has there ever been a prey species president.
Elections are held every five years and there are no term limits, meaning an individual can be elected president multiple times. The general population is critical of this, but despite it being up for amendment every year, it never seems to garner enough votes to change. Votes are counted by popular vote, for example, whoever gets the most votes across the region when it comes time for a presidental election will win the election.
Centuries ago, all of Ohaes used to be a Monarchy like The Autumn Lands, but roughly four centries ago, it was changed to a democracy due to the expansion of a population boom and the need to travel further west. A monarchy was too difficult to maintain and a presidential democracy was adopted.
There are four major political parties, and their election into office has not been remotely equal, with some of the parties having elected learders only once or twice. The largest of the parties is the Western Formation League which was the first party to arise after the decision to expand the population west-ward and move Ohaes from a monarchy to a democracy, This party is known for being strong willed, and also focused on growing the economy. Next is the Prime Life Party, which is the second largest party and focuses with a majority on surface level social issues. Third is the Modern Reformation party which is the most radical of the four parties and has been growing in popularity in the last few years and focuses mostly on deeper social issues and bringing them beyond equality, but to justice. Finally, there is the Neo Green Movement which is focused solely on environmental issues. Of them all, the Neo Green Movement is the least popular and considered a 'hippie' party.
The president also has a vice president and 'council'. The vice president automatically becomes the candidate in the presidential election that comes in second of the popular vote. The council consists of nine members, two from each political party and one that is chosen by the president when they come into office. Council members have no term limits, only being replaced when they retire or die. Council members, aside from the one chosen by the president, are elected in by the public when one dies or retires. If a president is not reelected at the end of a five year term, the ninth council member that they chose specifically also leaves office.
Laws and Legality
Federal laws are made by the president, vice president, and their council. Because of the common disagreements and differences between the parties, it is very different to get a new law passed or an old law repealed. The general public does not have any influence on the passing or repealing of laws, and the only influence the voters have on laws are which ones are considered for the president and council to pass or repeal.
Law enforcement exists in the form of police officers, and most police forces are known to be corrupt. Officers are not particularly paid well for their service, which leads the public to believe that its just a power trip for most police officers, and that they are not actually interested in the greater good. Police are not generally respected and are more feared and hated than anything.
Punishments for crimes can range from being ticked/fined to prison time. Prison time can be up to a life sentence, and there is no death penalty that exists. Trials are given for laws broken, and individuals can be bailed out for smaller crimes. Trials are not entirely fair, there is no jury and punishment is decided solely by a judge. This has been long argued against by the public, as the rise of corrupt judges or biased judges has been more and more common.
For a quick reference on legalities, please view the section below:
Serious Crimes/Very Illegal: Murder/Manslaughter, Drug Dealing/Trafficking, Treason, Arson, Tax Evasion
Illegal (but ignored): Libel, Slander, Fraud, Identity Theft, Vandalism, Robbery, Being in Debt, Prostitution
Neither Legal nor Illegal: Indecent Exposure, Resisting Arrest, Blackmail, Torture, Trespassing, Kidnapping, Suicide
Frequently Problematic/Actively Trying to Stop: Bribery, Assault/Sexual Assault, Organized Crime
Legal/Legally Protected: Witchcraft, Medicinal Euthanasia, Abortion
Socially Accepted Behaviors: Playing Loud Music, Sleeping in Public, Gambling, Jaywalking
Major Social Problems: Speciesism, Discrimination, Alcohol and Drug Addiction, Sexism
Taboos: Abortion (although legally protected), Public Drug or Alcohol Use
Taxes
The general population is expected to pay yearly taxes, and it is inforced by law. There are thousands of tax offices that can help citizens of Ohaes file yearly, a law was passed that every town with a higher population than 100 individuals must have a tax office that is open at least three months of the year. If no one in a small town knows how to operate a tax office or help others file, a government employee will be stationed in said town for the duration of 'tax season'. Residents of towns that are considered too small for a tax office must travel to a bigger town with an office to file each year.
Most goods are also taxed a small amount, the amount changing on what the items are. Food does not have tax but clothing and tools do, and luxury items like vehicles and jewelry are taxed highest.
Taxes are supposed to go toward bettering the cities and towns, though it is hard to trace instances where this has been true in the recent years. If taxes are not paid, the penalty is jail time up to ten years and tax evasion is considered a major crime.
Military
Since Ohaes is all one united continent, there isn't really much use for a military, although on does exist in the event of a civilian uprising. It consists of a small, but strong, Army and Air Troops.
In all of Ohaes history, there has never been a civil war or anything of the stort, and the military has never been deployed as must issues are taken care of by local police forces. The military is a bit of a running joke among civilians, and does garner a fair bit of distaste since the population's tax money goes toward funding the military that most find to be useless.
A recent president tried to argue the need for a military branch based around space travel in order to combat extraterrestrial threats, but it was never agreed on or passed into existence.
Economy
Ohaes has a mixed economy, with government influence. For the most part, the economy is stable and the population is happy with it.
The most wealthy are politicians and CEO's, both having an unfavorable view from the population on their wealth. According to both of those groups, they say they pay their fair share of taxes but its assumed by the public that there's some sort of evasion going on.
There are different economic classes, with the most being middle class. This assessment comes from the fact that most of the population lives in the two major cities, and they are able to just afford living there. The small towns, especially out west, are mostly a part of the lower class but the town populations are so small they do not really appear to represent a large portion of the population even though there are over a million individuals living in poverty.
Everyone is allowed, and encouraged to work, except those under the age of fourteen, and for the younger workers it is generally only a specific set of jobs they can work, like grocery store bagger and fast food worker. Further away from the capital, there are small towns that fly under the radar and child labor is common, especially on farms and in the mines.
The economy is based around the Silvit (plural: Silvits), a currency that has been around since the monarchy. It is a bill-based currency, so counterfeit is somewhat easy and common. There are no coins involved, everything can be paid with using the bills and change in the form of decimals isn't used. Denominations include 1, 10, 25, 50 and 100 bills. Electronic cards are gaining popularity, but paying with physical Silvits.
Banks exist and it is very easy to get a savings account set up.

Society and Culture

Food
Most of the population are omnivores, eating both plant-based food and animal agriculture food. Plant based food, like fruits and vegetables, are grown all over Ohaes on farms in different climates, offering different variety of food. Animal agriculture food typically comes from Horseshoe Canyon, where there is a lot of open land. There has lately been an uptick of plant-based diets, as more and more individuals are becoming uncomfortable with the treatment of feral animals.
Food is typically eaten with utensils like forks and knives, though some opt for other utensils like chop sticks when it comes to certain foods.
Three meals a day are the norm, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and its normal to have two very small meals a day before a large dinner at night.
Music
Music has a huge place in society, most children learn to play at least one instrument and a recent survey has shown that 60% of students continue to play the instrument at their highest level of music education after graduation, and 40% continue lessons and learning for their instrument.
Concerts from famous artists are also a large economic boost, bringing in millions of dollars a year to the area of the venue. Music is one of the largest forms of entertainment in Ohaes, and most of the population can pin-point exactly who their favorite artist is.
Customs
It varies from place to place, but the Ohaes population is generally warm and friendly, and a greeting before asking a stranger for something goes a long way. Inviting others over for a meal is a common way to get to know someone, and taking shoes off before entering a home is a polite way to show respect for the residents.
Most families have children, there is a big push from the government to keep the population growing despite some groups warning that too much of a population boom could lead to resource scarcity. Most births are in a hospital, and because of good medical technology, birth is mostly safe for both infant and parent. Infants that are born between two unmarried individuals is usually looked at with a bit of societal taboo, despite it not being illegal. Birthdays are celebrated every year, being much more of a larger celebration for children, as most adults elect to have a smaller dinner outing instead of a party for their birthdays.
Marriage is legal for anyone who would like to be married, over the age of eighteen. There are legal benefits such as tax cuts. Ohaes used to have a big percentage of arranged marriages, but as of the last century or two, arranged marriages are only really seen in The Autumn Lands. Ceremonies are up to those who are being married, they can be as large or as small as they care for it to be, but they are not paid for by the government or anything like that, so ceremony size depends on the size of the couple's pockets. Same sex marriage is legal and normal, no one really thinks anything of it especially in the larger regions, there may be a few small towns out west who are stuck in old ways. Divorce is legal and easy, and not really discussed much as it is seen as an extremely personal matter. Polygamy is legal but not common at all.
At the end of a life, death is viewed with different opinions. A large percentage of the population simply does not believe in any sort of afterlife, they just believe nothing happens after death. There are a few religions in Ohaes that do believe in an afterlife, though. After death, a funeral is held by the deceased's closest love ones. The concept of death has mixed feelings, some very scared to die and others, usually older, have accepted that it will happen one day. Most of the older population has a will of some sort, to make sure their wealth and belongings are given to the right hands after death. Suicide isn't legal or illegal, but usually looked at with sadness. Luckily, the suicide rate is very low. Assisted, medical euthanasia is legal and helps thousands who are suffering from terminal illness every year to pass peacefully and on their own terms.
Literature
Books are a very big pastime and hobby for a lot of the population, especially those in the cities. Its not uncommon to be on public transportation and see someone reading a book. Currently, the biggest genre on the rise is horror, but fantasy and contemporary are still very popular. There are also magazines that are popular, as well as the morning newspaper, which is the fastest way to get up to date on current events.
The literacy rate on Ohaes is very high, most of the population can read and write at a sustainable level. Some of the smaller towns might not be able to boast this, but there is usually at least someone in those towns who can help others read and write.
Authors are treated like celebrities, with book signings having lines out the door and around the block most times.
Fashion and Appearance
Fashion ranges greatly depending on the individual, but some common trends are bold styles with vibrant colors, grunge style, or some minimalist trends as well. Denim is popular, as well as athletic wear and a street-wear style. Accessories that are popular include large, chunky jewelry, chokers, fingerless gloves, headbands and scrunchies, and small backpacks. Footwear could range anywhere from sneakers to platform boots.
There's no set beauty standard, per se, but there are definitely makeup and hair styles that are commonly seen. Hair is usually voluminous, and its not unusual for males to have longer, wild hair. Makeup is usually bright and colorful, or dark and heavy for those sticking to a more grunge style.
Relationships
Most of the population does value friendship and will frequently join friends after work for dinner or other recreational activities, and their specifics depends on if its the weekend or not. A recent survey polled that a majority of the population has three very close friends, and a handful of other individuals they would consider to just be friends.
Romantic relationships are more private, and most outsiders don't know anything else about a couple's personal doings. Sex outside of marriage isn't quite taboo status, but it is a little frowned upon. In the way of birth control, there are unfortunately not many options besides condoms or birth control pills, which are still new and somewhat experimental. Vasectomies are offered but somewhat difficult to obtain. Relationships don't have a typical set age gap or range, and most individuals mind their own business about a couple's age. Casual dating is common, it usually takes a few months for a couple to decide to become exclusive.
Professional relationships have a bit more weight to them, and many people do not know much about their boss's personal life and certainly don't see their boss outside of work. Colleagues will typically go out together on a Friday night but their boss is almost never invited to join.
Hierarchy
While the government would like to boast that everyone is as equal as possible, it is simply not true. Wealth precedes everything, with more money comes more respect and more things that can easily be gotten away with. Law enforcement tends to turn their heads at the ultra-rich, hoping for favors in return.
There is also a fair bit of speciesism as well, with predator species having a higher hold on society. There are harmful stereotypes about both predator and prey animals.
Gender has the least to do with an individual's spot on the social hierarchy, but does still exist due to preconceived gender roles.
Education
Education is taken seriously and seen as very important, which shows in the high literacy rate across the continent. All children are automatically enrolled into school from roughly ages 5-18. Students go to school for 10 months with two months off and some breaks for holidays. They attend October through July and have August and September off.
After those years, college is expected and encouraged. It is not free, however most students who excel get grants from the university to continue higher education.

Religion

Overview
A majority of the population does not have a specific religious following or simply does not care enough to align themselves with an established religion. Several religions exist in Ohaes, and their level of devoutness depends entirely on an individual personally.
Eevuthoism
Eevuthoism is by far the most popular religion in Ohaes, with something like 38% of the population following the belief. Followers believe that Eevuthos (followers use 'it' pronouns for Eevuthos) is the single deity who created the world but also an afterlife for mortals who do well in their life, called Teaphis. They also believe that after death, if you did not follow a moral life, you will be sent to Cuadess for eternal torture by the king of Cuadess, Lazarus.
There are temples dedicated to Eevuthos and its angels, and these are used as gathering places when needed. There is no set day that followers meet, nor is there anything specific they are expected to do inside. Several of these temples have beautiful artwork from centuries ago that are admired by even those who do not follow the religion.
Angels are an important part of Eevuthoism to mortals as well, as guardian angels are said to visit those who really are in need of guidance.
Drabudo Goddesses
A smaller religion is a group of followers of the Dragon Goddesses. These dragons are said to live on a hidden island, somewhere in Bastea's vast ocean. These goddesses are used in stories passed around in society to explain why something happens, such as volcanoes, or the seasons. Most of the population knows these stories and accepts them as myth, but there is a very devout small following who believe they are real.
There has never been a sighting of any of these goddesses by a mortal.

Technology

Science
Biology, Chemistry and Physics are generally understood in Ohaes, with a good grasp on the three major sciences. Biology know very well how bodies and anatomy work, and thus are working with chemists all the time to advance medicinal technology. Science is considered very important in society and a lot of students cite it as their 'dream' to go into a science field for their career.
Time
Time is kept on a 24 hour basis, with 24 hours equalling a full day. Calendars are made and understood, 365 days go into a 12 month year. 7 days in a full week. The days of the week are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The months of the year are January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December.
Medicine
Because of the great interest in science, medicine is luckily well developed and a priority. Typically medicine comes in the form of different chemicals, but quite a bit of the population enjoys a more holistic approach with herbs and plants instead.
Cures for disease are developed quite often, depending on how major the disease is and the funding that chemists and biologists are able to recieve from the government.
Doctors and surgeons are plentiful and must complete several years of college. Doctors are generally respected by the population and it is a popular career choice for children to aspire for.
Transportation
Automobile vehicles are popular but most of the population chooses not to have them since a majority of the cities and towns are extremely walkable and have plentiful public transportation such as the metro and busses.
Long distance travel is usually made by high speed trains that run all over the continent. They can be pricey but are the cheapest option for fast, long distance travel. Air travel is another option but it is very scarce and expensive. There are not many airports, nor are there very many plans to build more. Air travel is usually only used by those who are wealthy enough to have their own private planes.
Communication
Individuals communicate with each other through mail and phone calls. Phone calls are limited to pay phones and landlines, there are no current forms of portable telephone.
Computers are very new and most homes do not have a personal computer, but those who do can communicate with others through email.
Television and radio are very important for receiving fast news updates.

Occults

Occults are a variation of individuals who possess unique skills or supernatural abilities that mortals do not. Generally, occults do not mix and even if an individual has parents from two different occults, they will take one or the other, it is extremely rare and almost completely unheard of for an individual to be a mix of two. Occults can be born from two mortals, though they would have had to have a grandparent in the last two generations that was also an occult. A mortal and an occult who have a child together give the child a fifty-fifty chance to be either mortal or part of the occult of the occult parent. However, if the occult offspring has a mortal parent, this will make the abilities of the occult offspring significantly weaker and less prominent if there are physical attributes, and therefore occult offspring with one mortal parent and one occult parent are considered 'half' of the occult (i.e. half-vampire if the offspring has a mortal father and vampire mother but inherited vampirism from the mother instead of mortality from the father).Occults are somewhat rare, and often times the less 'desirable' occults will face bias and discrimination from mortals and sometimes even other occults. Not all occults originate on Ohaes, some are specifically from other realms and were brought to Ohaes one way or another.

Native to Ohaes

Ranked least to most dangerous

Generic Magic Users
Generic Magic Users (GMU's) are the most common type of occult that occur naturally on Ohaes. These magic users are typically of low threat level and will mostly be seen in traveling circuses or other entertainment positions, like sideshows at a festival. They possess weak magic, such as very limited telekinesis and short-range teleportation or people or objects. GMU's are often joked about and called 'advanced mortals' by other occults, but in the same vein, they are the ire of other occults since they are the most accepted by mortals and seem to get special favor by the mortals and put into positions of importance whereas an occult that may appear more threatening to mortals would have those opportunities stifled.
Elemental Magic Users
Elemental Magic Users (EMU's) are another type of magic user, but are gifted in the form of an element in place of just general magic. The seven elements that an EMU could have domain over are fire, wind, water, earth, electricity, light and darkness. There has never been recorded history of an EMU who possessed control over more than one element. Therefore, an EMU will only take the element of one parent, if both parents happen to be EMU's. The elements are genetic, therefore an EMU born to one parent who possesses control over fire and the other parent possesses control over wind, will either end up with fire or wind, never one of the other elements not in their family genetics. EMU's are typically of moderate threat, depending on their element. They are not as common as GMU's.
Witches
Witches are types of magic users but specifically focused on nature and healing. Despite the name, witches can be of any gender. Witches typically don't have any magic to 'cast' but instead are more specialized in potion brewing focused on plant growing and medicine. Witches prefer to live in nature, a high number of them live in the woods in covens together and don't really enjoy when mortals or other occult outsiders approach their living areas. Witches who are more friendly with mortals and other occults can be seen living in cities and towns, typically working on farms or as assistants to doctors for illnesses that are harder to treat with modern medicine.
Vampires
Vampires are extremely rare to be seen in areas with high populations of mortals. Mortals see vampires as a threat, which they are to an extent. Vampires must feed at least once a month to stay alive, but luckily for their victims, they do not have to kill to feed. They are able to feed off of their victims, replacing blood taken with venom that allows the mortal to stay alive and start replacing the blood lost. Those who have had their blood replaced with vampire blood have reported confusion for a few days after the feeding, and short-term memory loss. This is especially useful for covens who live near towns and allows them to feed without wiping out a population and having to move elsewhere for food. Vampire covens are typically mixed gender but another popular option is matriarchically female only covens. Vampires are created by birth, only one parent has to be a vampire to have a vampire offspring. Most do not possess the ability to turn mortals into vampires, only a few long lineage families still possess that power, but use it very liberally on mortals in order to keep the occult alive and produce less chance of eventual inbreeding.
Werewolves
Werewolves are one of the most dangerous occults as they all possess the ability to turn their mortal victims into werewolves with a bite, if they do not kill the victim in the process. Once a month under the full moon, individuals who are werewolves will transform into a beast version of themselves. A werewolf does not have to be a canine to be a part of the occult, any species can be bitten and turned into a werewolf, thus giving them the ability to pass it on to any offspring. Despite being very dangerous on the full moon, other times of the month they do not possess any extra abilities except for perhaps heightened senses of smell and hearing. On the new moon, werewolves are at their weakest even in their normal forms, and have a hard time being motivated to do anything. Werewolves are extremely popular picks for sports teams and other athletics, even though they don't have any extra strength when not transformed. Akins City is currently going under a vote if werewolves should be allowed on sports teams for fear of possible advantages.
Goddesses
The Goddesses are a group of dragons who live in an undisclosed location, unknown to anyone except for the goddesses themselves. All goddess dragons are born female, there are no known god dragons ever to have been recorded. Not all dragons are goddesses, some female (and male) dragons just exist as mortals. Each goddess dragon has a mythos attached to her and are thousands of years old. Most will rule over something, such as volcanoes or the oceans, but some are merely benevolent and gift the mortals they like, such as the goddess of fortune. Goddesses are almost never seen but since they have control over so many different things that could be harmful, they are considered extremely dangerous and should never be approached.

non-Native to Ohaes

Ranked least to most dangerous

Angels
Angels are specific beings that come from the realm of Teaphis. It is most common to see banished angels on Ohaes, as those who have not been banished do not spend a lot of time in the mortal realm. The angels that visit from Ohaes are typically of the guardian classification, and these have average strength and don't possess any abilities that would be dangerous. Banished angels are usually left with marginal to no traces of their original power and memories, most only keeping their wings to show for their occult. Angelicism is one of the few occults that cannot be passed down through birth. Angels in Teaphis do not reproduce and those who have been banished to Ohaes would have mortal children or the child would take on whatever the other parent's occult was if they had one. Angels are a low level threat, the militia and council are the only threats but they have not been known to leave Teaphis.
Fae
Fae originate from a realm called Halemel, and are almost never seen in Ohaes. The only ones who travel through realms to reach Ohaes are diplomats, to establish alliance and trade with the highest ranking officials of Ohaes. Other than those few who know of their existence, virtually no one on Ohaes knows of their existence and only think they are myths. Most myths involve the fae tricking mortals or other occults into servitude or surrendering their power, and while they are fiction to most on Ohaes, they are generally seen as unfavorable in these myths despite being a low physcial danger threat.
Starborn
Starborn is a broad term to describe anyone or anything that comes from Ohae's neighboring planets and beyond. Most local planets to Ohaes have been recorded and explored if possible, and while they present no life, it is not uncommon for visitors from other planets or solar systems to visit Ohaes. So far most visitors have been very close in shape to the residents of Ohaes and been generally friendly and willing to integrate into life on Ohaes. There hasn't been a recorded incident of a violent Starborn in centuries but they are still treated as a moderate threat until true intentions are discovered. Starborn are offered extravagant treatment from the government, as long as they work in cooperation with the space centers to give more information about where they came from. Unsurprisingly, most are unwilling to share secrets of their home planet, and therefore do not receive government aid.
Demons
Powerful occults that hail from the realm of Cuadess, demons are extremely dangerous and contact with them should be kept as minimal as possible. Demons come in all shapes and sizes, and have several different classifications. All should be treated as an extreme to any mortals and other occults. Demons can have an array of different abilities and at first glance, it can be impossible to tell what classification they are. Most are of high intelligence, and are cunning and quick to trick mortals especially. While like the angels, they can be banished from Cuadess, it is much less likely because of the more lax laws that exist in their realm. Not enough is known about banished demons to appropriately give those specifically a threat level.
Dreadgeist
There has never been a recorded account of any encounters with a dreadgeist, however, it is worth noting that every recorded realm has mythos involving dreadgeist even if they do not share the same name across realms. Even the demons fear the dreadgeist in their mythology, therefore putting them at the highest risk level despite there not being any proof that they exist. The only thing that keeps anthropologists on the fence about their existence is the fact that across so many realms, stories explain the same exact creature. They are described as created, an original infection spreading from victim to victim. They cause rotting flesh and insanity, eventually killing their victim but the infection remains in the body to keep it animated and giving the appearance to still be alive. There is not much more information known about dreadgeist.

Secret Menu transactions take place literally in-house, in a network of basement level apartments provided to each of the staff.
